Enclosed is a letter from Antonio N. Torralba dated June 11, 2015 re: I WRITE FOR
CHANGE: A JOURNALISM & WRITING SEMINAR ON PROMOTION ETHICS IN NEW MEDIA
on July 11, 2015 at Li SengGiap Auditorium at the University of Asia and the Pacific,
OrtigasCenter, Pasig City, contents of which are self-explanatory, for information and
appropriate action.
Nonetheless, this office reiterates the no-disruption-of-classes policy as stipulated in
DepEd Order No.9, S.2005 entitled "Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-an-Task
and Ensuring Compliance. "Also, the field is hereby warned of the provision R.A. 5564,

CATALYST, the Leadership, Advocacy, and Outreach organization of UA&P, cordially
invites you to "I Write for Change: A Journalism & Writing Seminar on Promoting Ethics in New
Media," a journalism seminar on July 11, 2015 at the Li Seng Giap Auditorium at the University of
Asia and the Pacific, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. This whole day session is intended for student
leaders.
This event aims to raise awareness on the social implications brought about by the changing
media. It is intended to instill on its participants the proper utilization of various forms of media to
encourage good morals and values in the society. Invited guests speakers are Atom Arauno, Jessica
Soho, Mike Enriquez, Atty. Toto Villareal, Antoinette Jadaone, Mel del Rosario, and Vanessa Valdez
to impart their ideas on responsible and ethical journalism for the betterment of society.
We wish to invite the schools in the division to be part of this one-day journalism seminar.
Together, we hope to make a significant contribution to making the youth of today become the voice
of our nation.
The registration fee for this event is priced at P200, P250, and P300 per participant at regular
rates for public and private high schools, and colleges respectively. Early bird rates for this event are
priced at P150, P200, and P250 per participant for public and private high schools, and colleges
respectively. Discount rates for schools sending fifteen (15) or more participants are priced at 10
percent less the regular rates at P180, P225, and P270 for public and private high schools, and
colleges respectively. Registration fee will include, Program Kit (if available), and Certificate of
Participation. Snacks and lunch are not included in the registration. Since there are limited slots
available, reservations will be made on a first come, first serve basis. Reservation forms may be sent

I Write for Change Essay-Writing Competition Rules & Meehanks:
1. This competition is open to all delegates of the I Write for Change conference.
2. Each school can only submit a maximum ofthree entries from three different participants.
3. Interested participants are tasked to write an essay that answers this question:
With the use of a new platform (i.e. online). does the Philippine media today help in
uplifting the lives ofFilipinos? Ifyes, how? IflJO, why?
4. Entries should be written in Filipino or English. Word limit for all entries is 500-1500 words.
5. All entries must be original and unpublished. Plagiarized entries will be automatically
disqualified.
6. Entries will be judged by the editors and writers of the official student publication ofUA&P, The
Bosun.
7. The criteria for judging is indicated below:
o Completeness, soundness, and clarity of answer to the essay question - 40%
o Well-supported arguments (i.e. presence of evidences) - 20%
o Writing style (tone" choice of words. structure) - 20%
o Overall impact - 20%
8. Entries should be submitted as a Word document file (.docx) to ena82096@gmaiLcom with the

9. Deadline of submission of entries is on June 30, 2015.
10. Three winners will win a medal and a certificate. The winning piece will be featured in the
Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Throughout its 5 years of existence, CATALYST has organized many projects that made a
positive impact on different people, including its members. The organization has always been committed
to its mission of bringing a positive change to society.
CATALYST aims to provide UA&P students with opportunities for meaningful service to
community and society especially the needy. We hope to accomplish this by organizing various
leadership and outreach projects on a regular basis.

Dear Dr. De Gulan,
This is to earnestly request for authorization to enable high school students ofthe schools division
of Muntinlupa City to attend.a conference, conducted by Catalyst of the University of Asia and the
Pacific, scheduled for 07 November 2015, at the Ynares Sports Arena, Ortigas Center, from 2:30 p.m. to
5:30 p.m.
Entitled, Real Love Revolution, the conference seeks to instill into the minds of the participants
the importance of chastity and purity when it comes to giving and receiving "rea1love". At the same time
it also seeks to inform the youth on how such play important roles in the development of Philippine
Society. Speakers include Matt Fradd and Sarah Swafford, both known internationally for their talks and
writings on pornography and emotional virtue respectively.
CATALYST, a student organization of the University of Asia and the Pacific, has been in
existence for six years, organizing events on character development and leadership competencies. In
recent years, CATALYST has engaged the minds ofintemationally renowned educators, take for instance
Hal Urban. Over the past four years, it has also been organizing pro-life and chastity conferences for the
youth participated in by more than 31,000 young people. This major conference bears the title Real Love
Revolution and its first installment was held at the SMX Convention Center in February 2011 with 8,000
participants. The second was held in World Trade Center in September 2012 with 15,000 participants.
The most recent one was held in September 2013 at the PICC (Philippine International Convention
Center) with 8,000 participants.
The fee for public high school students is discounted at PHP 250, which perhaps could be
authorized by the division office through an endorsement memorandum.
We hope you would find this conference worth your favor. The substance and methodology of
Catalyst have led to significant change in the landscape of student leadership. Enclosed are pertinent
