The first company to present their Brand to our MBA’s is Canon (UK) Ltd, the UK
marketing and sales operation for the US$35 billion global company based in Tokyo,
Japan. In the UK Canon employs around 1,800 people in various locations including
Ireland and has achieved sales of £531million in 2006.
Canon has three key business areas Business Solutions covering both the office and professional printing environments
(including: multifunctional printers, IT consultation, photocopiers, printers, large
format printers, fax machines, document management hardware & software) and
Consumer Imaging (input solutions: film and digital SLR cameras, digital still
compact cameras, camcorders, binoculars, calculators and scanners; and output
solutions: Inkjet and laser printers, faxes, desktop all-in-ones and multimedia
projectors).
Broadcast Division is an extension of our product portfolio covering the supply and
servicing of professional lenses and their accessories to the Television Broadcasting
environment.
Ashridge Career Support and Canon UK and Ireland invite you to attend a seminar to
introduce you to the career opportunities that are available within Canon presented
by Matthew Norton – Director of Corporate and International Accounts and Jane
Hicks from Human Resources. From the seminar you will be given an overview of
the organisation and also a useful insight into the Canon culture and hear what is
really like to work for Canon. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and we
welcome any questions in advance so that we can give you the fullest answer.
Both Matthew and Jane would like to share their knowledge and experiences of how
their careers have developed as well as how others have within Canon.

Short Profiles of the Canon Representatives:
Matthew Norton is Canon UK's Director of Corporate & International Channel.
The channel is responsible for the sales and service of Canon Business
Solutions products into the Government, Large Enterprise and Commercial
Print sectors. The channel has a turnover of over £110M and is currently
growing at a rate of over 20% per year.
Matthew joined Canon in 1993 and spent five years in sales before
progressing through various management roles, including Head of Document
Management and Network Solutions. He has also managed Canon's regional
Canon Business Centres in Bristol and Manchester.
He was promoted to his current position in May 2006. He is married with two
children and still lives in Cardiff, despite his office being 150 miles away in
Reigate!
Matthew Norton graduated from Leeds University in 1990 and worked for
Mobil Oil Company for three years, before moving to Canon UK.
Jane Hicks – HR - Joined Canon in 1999 and worked as Collections Manager
prior to moving into HR in October 2004 as Senior HR Manager.
In addition to her responsibility for managing the administration and payroll
function, she works as an HR Business Partner for the Corporate &
International channel. Employment history prior to joining Canon was solely in
the aviation industry with experience in charter sales and all areas of finance,
including management and financial accounting.
