This is a highly interactive and practical course. The course assessments are trying to ensure fairness and a
balanced measurement of students' positive behavior, skills, knowledge and teamwork. Hence, your
attendance and punctuality as well as active participation is highly encouraged. In order to minimize any
chance of free riders and those students who believe that they can handle the course by self-study, students are
reminded to pay attention to the following rules:
1. Attendance
For those students who have absences for more than four times without any valid reason, you may not be
allowed to attend test1, test2 or group presentation and even result in an "F" as the final grade for this course.
Of course, if a student does not able to attend the initial four lectures for whatever reason, it does not make
sense to allow the student to attend test1.
2. Make-up Test
In general, make-up test will not be provided and a penalty of 20% deduction on the total marks may be applied
even if an exceptional case is granted. For sick leave, student must provide a certificate endorsed by a CUHK
doctor.
3. Late submission of assignments
All assignments are expected to be submitted in class. Late submission will not be entertained.
4. Group Presentation
Any student who is not able to present the assigned part of final group presentation due to any reason as
according to the planned schedule will get zero mark on the group project.
5. Peer Evaluation
You are required to provide confidential ratings on your group members regarding their contribution to the
group project in terms of attendance, cooperation, contribution and being a team player. It is your
responsibility to report to the teacher of any free-riding behavior with evidences. The free-riders will be
penalized as much as zero mark on the group project.

POLICY ON ACADEMIC HONESTY AND PLAGIARISM
The Chinese University of Hong Kong places very high importance on honesty in academic work submitted by
students, and adopts a policy of zero tolerance on cheating and plagiarism. Any related offence will lead to
disciplinary action including termination of studies at the University. Attention is drawn to University policy
and regulations on honesty in academic work, and to the disciplinary guidelines and procedures applicable to
breaches
of
such
policy
and
regulations.
Details
may
be
found
at
http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/policy/academichonesty/.
With each assignment, students will be required to submit a signed declaration that they are aware of these
policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures. In the case of group projects, all students of the same group
should be asked to sign the declaration, each of whom is responsible should there be any plagiarized contents
in the group project, irrespective of whether he/she has signed the declaration and whether he/she has
contributed
directly
or
indirectly
to
the
plagiarized
contents.
For assignments in the form of a computer-generated document that is principally text-based and submitted via
VeriGuide, the statement, in the form of a receipt, will be issued by the system upon students' uploading of the
soft copy of the assignment. Assignments without the properly signed declaration will not be graded by
teachers. Only the final version of the assignment should be submitted via VeriGuide.
The submission of a piece of work, or a part of a piece of work, for more than one purpose (e.g. to satisfy the
requirements in two different courses) without declaration to this effect shall be regarded as having committed
undeclared multiple submission. It is common and acceptable to reuse a turn of phrase or a sentence or two
from one’s own work; but wholesale reuse is problematic. In any case, agreement from the course teacher(s)
concerned should be obtained prior to the submission of the piece of work.
