Playhouse to Partner with SoundDiego on Free Concert
Featuring 2011 San Diego Music Award Nominees Endoxi,
Maren Parusel and Miss Erika Davies
LA JOLLA, CA — La Jolla Playhouse is pleased to partner with NBC on their popular
SoundDiego LIVE performance series by hosting a free outdoor concert on Thursday,
October 27 in the Playhouse Forum Courtyard starting at 7:00 pm.
Hosted by FM 94/9 DJ Tim Pyles, the concert will feature Endoxi, a 2011 San Diego Music
Award nominee for Best Alternative Artist; as well as Maren Parusel, the 2011 San Diego
Music Award winner for Best Pop Album and Miss Erika Davies, a 2011 San Diego Music
Award nominee for Best Jazz Album. Guest will also enjoy a complimentary Happy Hour from
7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, featuring craft brews from Stone Brewing Co.

introduce new people to the Playhouse, while offering a terrific evening of free music by top

SoundDiego is an interactive online community, rooted in San Diego's thriving music scene. Its
goal is to provide a behind-the-scenes/insider’s perspective through the eyes and ears of
bloggers, artists, venues, record stores and prominent voices from around the county. In
addition to daily blogs, they post multimedia content, including exclusive videos and galleries.
They also present SoundDiego LIVE, a free concert series at venues around the community,

The culmination of exceptional artistry that Endoxi exhibits is rooted in the musical evolution
and experiences of front man Chris Wilson. The group, comprised of Wilson on vocals and
guitar, saxophonist Joe Cardillo, keyboard/organist John Varn and drummer Matt Caskitt, who
form this powerhouse band that is known for high-energy shows, memorable melodies, and
unrivaled instrumentation. A Greek term that means “everything in its place,” Endoxi is not just

Winner of the Best Pop Album at the 2011 San Diego Music Awards, Maren Parusel’s latest
CD, “Artificial Gardens,” is an expression of her work making music and touring, playing 28
shows in just over 30 days this past summer. Her first full length record on Requiemme Records
includes 11 new songs crafted from her life growing up in Germany and contrasted with her
experiences over the past five years in sunny California. Parusel and her band – Kyle McGee
on bass and vocals, Eric Brozgold on drums and Ariel Levine on guitar – live to play music.
Together they are building a fan base one show at a time, as they did on a recent three-week
tour to the Northwest, on two trips to the South By Southwest music conference in Austin,

Miss Erika Davies’ performances are distinctly old school, from her vintage microphone to her
penchant for evening gowns. Even her voice is retro -- evoking greats like Ella Fitzgerald and
Édith Piaf but never paling in comparison. The spritely singer has been wowing audiences for
years with her one-of-a-kind voice and heartfelt jazz numbers, cultivating a reputation as one of

Tim Pyles has been a local music supporter on radio for over 12 years, first on 91X and
currently the nationally-recognized FM94/9. He hosts The Local 94/9, a radio show dedicated to
the bands and music of San Diego, every Sunday from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. He also hosts the
station’s radio takeover show, the Coup d’Etat from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and its new music
show, FTP, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The nationally acclaimed, Tony Award-winning La Jolla Playhouse is known for its tradition of
creating the most exciting and adventurous new work in regional theatre. The Playhouse was
