Video system for microscopy
For the observation of samples (with biological microscopes) and of
opaque bodies (with stereomicroscopes) on a monitor or a color tv.
This item permits a widen study of microscopy thanks to only one
microscope for a whole class of students.
It consists of:
- ccd color camera, high-definition .
- adapter fro microscope and stereomicroscope.
- SCART connection cable to the monitor or color tv.
- installation and use instructions manual.
The monitor/tv is not included. Adaptable to all the OPTIKA microscopes by adapters realized on purpose. Take care: the system has been
designed to be used with all the monocular, binocular and trinocular
microscopes mentioned in this catalogue.
Educam cameras
Educam cameras are especially designed to satisfy the multiple requirements of teaching field. Connected to a professional monitor
or to a tv, the Educam have multiple functions. They can be used
as follows: as an episcope, for the replication of texts, documents, pictures, etc. - as a magnifier, for the enlargement of small
objects, insects, minerals, etc. - as a video microscopy system
which can be connected both to biological and stereo microscopes as an overhead projector, for the projection of transparent sheets
- as a camera for teleconference, for pc and internet connection
- as a camera for videoconference, for conferences, assemblies,
conventions, etc. - as a camera for the production of films, thanks
to a videorecorder.
These cameras permit neat shoots even in conditions of scarce
illumination, thanks to the sensibility of their electronic circuits.
The special objective permits a focusing from 0,76 mm to an
infinite distance. At the base there is an high sensibility microphone (only in multimedia models) which, through the tv or through
an autonomous amplification device, allows the reproduction of
the teacher’s voice during the lesson, or the record of sounds
and noises of surrounding environment. The audio circuit can be
disconnected through a dual function switch. The special flexible
arm measuring 50 cm or 65 cm, and the weight of the base
(approximately 2,7 kg), make the Educam versatile, sturdy and
stable instruments. The microcamera at the top of the flexible
arm can be positioned in different ways, even embossed to the
base, without compromising the stability of the system. A special
coupling allows the rotation of the head avoiding the break of the
connectors in the flexible arm. All the models are equipped with
external power unit and with double adapter for video microscopy
(for biological and stereo microscopes). The following five models
of Educam cameras are avaible.

SECTION 7 - THE MICROSCOPy 159
microscopY COURSES
15300
multimedia microscopy course
The aim of this multimedia microscopy course is to supply users with
a complete, updated guide to the scientific use of the microscope, by
exploiting the advantages of the “open”, interactive structure of the
hypertext. The course has been devised so to consent to a “stratified”
use of it ,in relation to the different levels of knowledge of the users.
Moreover it introduces and explains, whenever necessary, those
notions of optics, physics or biology, which are necessary to a proper
use of the microscope. As for the text, the choice was to mantain the
precision of the scientific vocabulary. In order to help the user, expecially the inexperienced one, a glossary was added to give simple but
complete explanation of the special terms used in the text. The course is divided into 4 parts:
• the first part deals with the following topics:
- use of the microscope
- the instrument’s main features
- eyepieces and objectives
- sample preparation tecniques
- observation of prepared slides in light field
- observation of prepared slide by immersion
- microscopy in phase contrast and in interference contrast - fluorescence microscopy
- dark field microscopy
- polarized light microscopy
- confocal microscopy
- stereoscopic microscope
- inverted microscope
- electron microscope
- microscopy and graphic
• The second part consists of exercises, which are easy to perform
and do not require expensive materials.
• The third part enables the users to verify the concept learned while
using the program; it is structured with questions about the two
previous sections of this CD
• The fourth part is dedicated to the microscope photography. The
theoretical and practical basis of photography are provided and the
basic devices are explained.
The final appendix of the couse contains a section dealing with the
microscope maintenance and an essential bibliography enabling the
user to broaden the topics investigated in the CD
Structure and contents
Technical features
The CD overall dimension is approximately 158 Mb.
The CD contains 431 pictures and many text files.
The CD was devised to be read by Windows 95, 98 and successive
systems; the screen resolution must be 800x600 pixels with small
types
System requirement:
- processor: Pentium™ 100 or superior;
- memory: RAM of 16 Mb (recommended 32 Mb);
- Graphic card: 2 or 4 Mb set at 64.000 (quickness option) or 16
milions of colors (maximum image quality option);
- CD-ROM drive , at least 12x;
- 10 Mb free space on the hard disk.
It is possible to print text and pictures contained in the CD.
The multimedia courses of microscopy and histology
can be purchased separately and they are supplied as
a present for the purchase of any optika microscope

microscopy courses
15301
human and animal histology multimedia course
The multimedia course , created with a simple and intuitive graphic
design, enables an easy consultation; the didactic autonomy enables
the students to gain a good knowledge through its use.
The DVD is composed of approximately 1000 files, 800 are pictures
and several footages. It has a dimension of approximately 1,5 GB.
Peculiarity:
In the course it is possible to broaden the study of the tissue of a
specific organ and to articulate the research beginning from the observation of real anatomic samples and then passing on to the visual
analysis of the anatomic samples and respective prepared slides.
It will be possible to collect functional information and, moreover,
the student will get used to recognize the anatomic structure of the
components under examination. The DVD shows TAC and RMN which
enable you to point out structures and pathology , creating a complex
of notions which can be usefull for their students. Other components
which enrich the course are pathologic preparations and hygen’s
cues, as well as parasitology’s and phisiology’s ; we judge them
important because some parasites, adapting to the defence system
the human body opposes to them, are showing an increase in their
diffusion.
For different tissues or anatomic structures there are important references of vertebrates’ compared anatomy ; these in-depth examinations are not redundant; indee, they help the student to understand
the morphological, structural and phisiological adaptations of the
tissues and to see this all from the adaptive and evolutionary points
of view
The DVD contains references to the biological systematics.
System requirement:
- processor: Pentium™ 100 or superior;

SECTION 7 - THE MICROSCOPy 161
ON-field microscopy KITs
These kits have been designed for a use on field. With them it is possible to
collect samples of waters, grounds and insects and then to analyze them at
the biological microscope or stereo microscope. Both kits are supplied with all
instruments necessary to work on field, and the supplied microscopes have a
revolutionary illumination system. Both instruments are able to keep working
for the whole day with the rechargeable batteries they are endowed with, thanks
to the use of low-consumption LED light sources. They are ideal for an open air
class; the kits are stored in two useful compartment-case and, therefore, they
are easy too be carried around.
