Less than 24 credits of transferable credits, as determined by UMUC. 1. Official high school transcript is required. 2. Transcripts from all colleges attended. B. 24 or more transferable credits, as determined by UMUC. 1. Cumulative GPA must be a minimum of 2.0. 2. Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended must be sent to UMUC Admissions Office. 3. The minimum grade for credits to transfer is a “C”. APPLICATION DATES Students applying to UMUC for the fall semester should apply between September 1 and March 1, while students applying for the spring semester should apply between September 1 and November 1. GENERAL TRANSFER INFORMATION Up to 70 credits may be accepted for transfer credit from 2-year or community colleges. Consult ARTSYS for course transferability information. To apply: Completed UMUC Undergraduate Admissions Application. Apply Online | Download the PDF application Send official transcript from each college or university attended. Transcripts should be mailed directly to UMUC from the registrar of each institution. Provide a list of courses in progress (if not included on the current school transcript). Send official high school transcript and SAT I or ACT results (for applicants with fewer than 24 college level credits). Attach the $50 nonrefundable application fee (Alliance students will have the fee waived). Send final ACM transcript upon completion of any course work in progress. MAJOR COURSE REQUIREMENTS 1. Check the UMUC academic catalog to obtain a complete list of courses required by each major or refer to the ARTSYS website. 2. Consult with your advisor, the Student Success Center or Pennsylvania Student Services for course transferability information or appropriate courses for a major. 3. Many departments require that only courses in which a C grade or better may count toward satisfaction of major requirements. Consult the UMUC academic catalog under the major requirements. A minimum of 2.0 average in the major requirements is needed for graduation. Some majors may require a higher average. On-line Programs The University of Maryland, University College offers a variety of on-line programs that allow students to complete bachelor’s and master’s degree from the comfort of their homes or businesses. On-line education makes it possible for Allegany College of Maryland students to continue their education. Students can earn a baccalaureate degree or a certificate on-line by attending classes at any time of day, in any place the students choose. Students can complete course work without setting foot in a classroom because they communicate with their classes on-line. Many four-year universities allow students to complete entire degrees or portions of degree programs on-line. In Maryland, the University of Maryland, University College (UMUC) is a major provider of degrees on-line offering 17 majors and 21 minors.
