Assess your application for admission and administer any enrolment by you in a course in accordance with the University’s policies and procedures

Southern Cross University may also, and without obtaining any further consent from you:

course applied for, new address, telephone and fax

C. TERTIARY STUDIES
1. All applicants who have undertaken relevant tertiary
studies must submit a full certified copy of their
academic transcript which provides evidence of all
subjects taken, grades obtained (including failures),
stage reached or qualification gained. The transcript
must be obtained by the applicant from the
institution concerned and submitted with this
application.
2. Applicants who have indicated previous studies at
SCU, NRCAE or UNE-NR are not required to
provide documentation for those particular courses.
3. Applicants who are currently enrolled in an
institution are asked to present their examination
results and/or assessment notification immediately
they become available.
4. Applicants who have undertaken overseas tertiary
studies and have documents which are not in English
MUST submit certified English translations as well
as copies of the original documents.
5. Do not include hobby, recreation, leisure or personal
enrichment courses in this section. If considered
relevant, these may be included under Additional
Information.
6. Applicants seeking advanced standing (credit) for
previous studies must lodge with the application for
admission an Application for Advanced Standing.
It should include unit or course outlines for each
completed unit (handbook synopses are not
sufficient) for which advanced standing is being
applied, and certified copies of transcripts which
evidence successful completion of the relevant units.
Applicants who are offered admission to the
University will be advised of any advanced standing
recommended as soon as possible, but this may not
be
before
the
start
of
the
session.
Note that advanced standing is not available for units
which have already been counted towards a
university degree or other award of a tertiary
education institution.
Advanced Standing requests received without
appropriate documentation will not be considered.
E. EMPLOYMENT
Vocational achievement is an important factor in the
evaluation of an application for admission to a Southern
Cross University Masters programme. Each applicant
is required to provide a resume of their professional
experience including details of positions held,
employers, relevant dates and duration, description of
duties, and any outstanding career or personal
achievements. A letter of support from an employer,
testifying to your capacity to undertake postgraduate
level study, while not mandatory, will enhance your
application.
DOCUMENTS
Where it is indicated that documents are required,
applicants must submit a copy of the original certified
by the issuing authority or the administration office of a
tertiary education institution or a member of a
profession acceptable to the University (such as a JP,
chartered accountant, bank manager, barrister or
solicitor, the principal of a school or a police officer at
the rank of Sergeant or above).
Alternatively originals can be sighted by the SCU
Postgraduate Programmes office at MIT and copies
will then be made to accompany your application.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF APPLICATION
Receipt of all applications will be acknowledged by
mail.
DEFERMENT
An offer of admission to a full fee session-based
postgraduate course may NOT be deferred. If you are
unable to accept an offer of admission you may request
that your application be retained and considered for
admission to the session in which you wish to
commence studies.
UNSUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS
Every effort will be made to notify all unsuccessful
applicants of the outcome of their application prior to
the commencement of the session. However, due to
time constraints this is not always possible. You may
obtain information regarding the status of your
application from the SCU Postgraduate Programmes
office two weeks prior to the commencement of the
session.
