Case Study

All Florida Paper achieves true network diversity with FPL FiberNet

Customer Profile:

All Florida Paper was established in 1993 with the goal of becoming the best full line distributor of paper and related products in the state of Florida. Today, All Florida Paper focuses on four key market sectors: Supermarkets (disposable paper products including labels, rolls and ribbons, films, trays, and butcher paper), Janitorial/Sanitation (paper products for hand wash, sanitation, floor care), Healthcare (offering products from 3M,

GOJO, Safety Zone, Baywest, Cello, Rubbermaid and others) and Foodservice (plates, bowls, containers, cups and straws, napkins among others). All Florida Paper believes they have accomplished their objectives thanks to a philosophy of offering customers superior quality products at competitive prices.

Challenge:

All Florida Paper runs a state-of-the-art IT and inventory management system to process orders, track deliveries and assure the smooth uninterrupted fulfillment of products to its customers. Part of delivering uninterrupted service to customers involves having a business continuity plan that includes a truly diversified network infrastructure. FPL

FiberNet has been able to provide true last-mile diversity using its fiber-optic network, which does not rely on the infrastructure of other providers as some of FPL FiberNet’s competitors do.

Besides diversity, All Florida Paper wanted a highly-reliable service to ensure access to their most critical inventory management system and data housed in an off-site data center. Productivity of All Florida Paper’s employees was being affected by poor business application performance. All Florida Paper relies on its website for customers’ to be able to place orders and track shipments. To ensure employee productivity remains high and customers’ quality of user experience is good, All Florida Paper wanted the ability to burst its Internet traffic at peak usage times while still paying a reasonable fixed monthly rate.

Solution:

FPL FiberNet provides All Florida Paper with a reliable 30Mbps point-to-point Ethernet

VPN connection with bursting capability up to 90Mbps. The connection links their main site together to the QTS Miami Data Center. FPL FiberNet is able to combine a 10Mbps

Internet access service on the same physical interface carrying Ethernet VPN traffic with a separate VLAN tag to distinguish the traffic. The bulk of All Florida Paper traffic now travels on FPL FiberNet’s network.

Benefits:

All Florida Paper is able to enhance the reliability of its network while lowering costs

All Florida Paper future proofs its network services

As the company’s data transport requirements grow, All Florida Paper will be able to quickly scale its bandwidth as well as use the burst capability of their existing service to handle short term bandwidth requirements. FPL FiberNet constantly monitors all services and reports to customers how often they are bursting to capacity so that bandwidth can be adjusted to accommodate traffic growth before it impacts critical business activities.

Customer service is enhanced with FPL FiberNet’s reliable Internet service

All Florida Paper relies on customer access to its website, the reliability and speed of the

FPL FiberNet’s Internet service has improved customers’ user experience by making sure it is available to them and delay is minimal so response times are fast.

“We liked the idea of having FPL FiberNet as the only carrier point-to-point including the last mile, and not having to call another carrier if we experience any issues. Price definitely was taken into consideration and that we worked with greatest sales representative we could ask for. He helped us from day one all the way to completion of the project and after.“ Maria Garcia, Operations & Safety Manager, All Florida Paper
