Assignments and Schedule
PLEASE NOTE: ANY AND ALL E-MAIL COMMUNICATION WITH ME
MUST INCLUDE YOUR FULL NAME AND THE CLASS DESIGNATION.
THIS IS 2305-02!
HOMEWORK: For this course you will complete 15 on-line quizzes.
These quizzes are taken on your own outside of class. They are not proctored
(supervised). They are open book, open notes and can be taken over until you get
100% correct! This is an opportunity for you to pile up a bunch of “A’s.”
The web site for the quizzes is logic.cqpress.com (note that there is NO www).
Once you get to the web site simply pick the chapter and take the quiz.
When you have completed the quiz, copy the results and then paste this to a word
document, you can then upload the results directly onto my grade book on the
CAMS course web site! You will also be given the option of e-mailing your quiz.
It is always a good idea to send a copy to yourself so you will have proof that you
completed the assignment if there are any technical malfunctions on my end.

ON-LINE DISCUSSION
There are fifteen questions/comments posted by the instructor on the class “Forum
Portal.” You should post a response to these questions/comments as well as to the
comments made by your classmates. DO NOT start new threads! Post your
comments as responses to the threads started by the instructor.
The schedule for forum discussion will be the same as for the on-line quizzes
(basically one response due each week).
A rubric will be used in grading the forum discussion, the rubric can be found on
the class CAMS website under “Course Documents.”
WRITING ASSIGNMENT
There is one writing assignment for this course. You will upload these essays on
the CAMS class website. The grading rubric that will be used to grade these
assignments is posted on CAMS under “Course Documents.”
We have a “writing team” and a computer based writing analysis program in ARC
here on campus. I STRONGLY encourage ALL of you to take advantage of these
benefits that we extend to you. Any student that visits with Coach Miers or one of
the writing team members to get assistance on their essay will receive extra credit
on their essay. Make sure that you bring me proof of your consultation (e-mail
confirmation from the writing team member is acceptable as well).
The ESSAY is due before midnight on Sunday February 20th.
You are to write an essay of NO LESS than 650 words that demonstrates to me
that you understand the role that logic plays in our government. Using Federalist
No.10 and Federalist No. 51 as your guide, demonstrate to me that you understand
3 the problems faced by the founders and the solutions that they devised to solve
these problems.
This is a formal essay! All the rules apply. Proper formatting and usage of the
English language is required. Properly cite your sources. When you use
information from the text book make sure that you properly cite this as well. The
course syllabus includes some of the rules on plagiarism. If you are in doubt as to
whether or not what you are doing is plagiarism, cover your butt, cite the source.
Better safe than sorry.
