INSPEC no longer available and Scitopia.org is a possible partial substitute along with
GoogleScholar, INSPEC ARCHIVE (1898-1968), ScienceDirect, and IEEE Xplore. Finally, there
are Biotechnology & Bioengineering Abstracts, Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical
Technology, and PubMed.


Knovel – Content collection includes material properties, process and design information, best
practices, equations and formulations for specific industries and engineering disciplines. Among
the titles included are some heavily used print sources like The Merck Index, Bergey’s Manual,
vol. 2, Perry’s handbook, Lange’s Handbook of Chemistry, Name Reactions book, etc.

Web of Science, especially Science Citation Index – excellent in the life sciences, chemistry, etc.
but not as good in engineering related fields.
