We really appreciate The Mansion Players for their presentation at our October Mix &

lot of interesting Belen history! Thank you to everyone that was able to join us October 3rd.
Have you had the opportunity to visit the Belen airport? Come and visit the Alexander Airport at their 4th Annual Airport Fly-in and Open house on November 2, 2013

loved one, please start your shopping expedition here in your local community. You
will be very delighted with what can be found!
In the preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday, please add to your schedules the
26th Annual Miracle on Main Street Electric Light Parade and the GBCC Open House,

Bargain Square in Los Lunas is in desperate
need of household types of donations... Small
electronics, glass items, kitchenware, etc. Yesterday we actually ran out if items to process
except for clothing, and we're still trying to
keep everyone busy and save these much
needed jobs in Valencia County. They need to
be in sellable shape because we can't do
repairs, otherwise we can use about anything.
Shoes are low too. Thanks for helping spread
the word!

Member of the Month:
NM Water Service Co.
New Mexico Water Service Company (NM Water) was
established in July, 2002, when its parent company purchased
the Rio Grande Utilities Corporation, which served customers
on the east side of the Rio Grande in Valencia County. NM
Water has grown since that time and currently provides
water and wastewater utility services in Valencia, Sierra, and
Bernalillo counties through approximately 7,500 connections.
Key to providing these services are its highly trained
customer service and water professionals.
In 2006, NM Water completed a first-of-its-kind project in the
wastewater industry, when it upgraded and expanded its Rio
del Oro Wastewater Treatment Facility. The project was
covered by several national trade publications, and was
featured on the front page of U.S. Water News and received
an Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council
of Engineering Companies 2007, State of New Mexico.
The quality of the treated water was significantly improved
and is typically well below the clarity limit set for drinking
water.
NM Water continues to support many local organizations and
their programs, including the Greater Belen Chamber of
Commerce’s Rio Abajo Becker Street Festival and its
Southwest Regional Pro-Am Armwrestling Championships,
the Hispano Chamber of Commerce of Valencia County,
Elephant Butte Chamber of Commerce, and numerous youth
leagues and school athletic programs.
NM Water remains dedicated to providing excellent customer
service, and high quality water and wastewater services.
A special thank you to Belen Public Library
for allowing us to have our luncheon at their beautiful facility. Carol Romero
and Goldie’s Diner served an amazing lunch, dessert and all!!! We celebrated
our new members and our Member of the Month-VCNB!!!! Thank you to The
Mansion Players for another outstanding performance!!! They are amazing!!! We
had over 60 in attendance!!! Woo Hoo!!!

the art of sustainable fashion
121 South Main Street
Art, Boutique, Design
505-515-4661
You are cordially invited to an early evening reception
featuring new works by pottery artist Renee Shearer,
reclaimed wood furniture creations by Jim Rende,
and the art of sustainable fashion of anew on main
Saturday ~ November 16th
4:00 to 7:00 pm
Prior to relocating to New Mexico two years ago, the pottery artist’s work has been collected
globally and celebrated in Schiffer Publishing’s hardbound book Ceramics Today as one of “120
innovative contemporary ceramic artists – from the vast and impressive range of ceramic art
being created internationally during the first decade of the twenty-first century.”
Locally, most know Renee Shearer as the resident manager of Sandia Storage. Having taken a
brief hiatus to settle into Southwestern life, she is again producing original new works which
she refers to as useful, playful, artful and affordably priced. The evening reception at anew on
main will be the only opportunity to purchase her pieces in New Mexico until next year.
Using reclaimed wood, artist and retired architect, Jim Rende envisions furniture differently.
Jim’s distinctive creations are designed around the unique characteristics of each piece of
reclaimed wood and the results are surprising while still fully functional for use in your home.
Enjoy discovering the art of sustainable fashion with anew on main - Belen’s fun, hip, swanky
boutique located right on Main Street. John D. Rockefeller once said “The secret of success is to
do the common things uncommonly well.” anew does just that - experience fashion and art in a
new and different way.
