Born: estimated around 1450 in the town of
Hertogenbosch, Brabant (modern-day Netherlands).
► Died: August 1516.
► His real name was Jerome van Aken.
► Painted mostly for nobility in Europe.
► He was an Orthodox Catholic, but his paintings were
so strange that he was considered a heretic by the
church.
►
The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things
Painted in 1485 at the age of 35.
The Haywain
Painted in 1490 at the age of 40.
Christ Carrying the Cross
Painted in 1490 at the age of 40.
The Temptation of Saint Anthony
Painted in 1500 at the age of 50.
The Garden of Earthly Delights
Painted in 1504 at the age of 54.
