Field PRESIDENT Dear Cardinal Fans: Few athletic events can equal the color, excitement and thrills of good college football. As you enjoy the 1979 William Jewell College football campaign, I trust you will remember that intercollegiate athletics is central to the liberal arts education for which William Jewell College is renowned. It is for this reason that the college fields a total of fifteen intervarsity teams for men and women. And while an unusually large percentage of the student body is actively involved in intercollegiate athletic endeavors, even more profit from the extensive intramural program. Athletic competition demands long hours of preparation and study, as well as a sense of dedication and self-discipline. Certainly when these qualities are applied to other life experiences, a better person results. So, we welcome you to participate in the excellent tradition of William Jewell College athletics. May your enjoyment of this game be enhanced in the knowledge that those who compete here are preparing for leadership in tomorrow's world. Sincerely yours, Thomas S.
