Welcome to Liberty! We have built a very positive, safe, and student-centered learning community here at Liberty and we are excited that you will be
joining us for our tenth year! Our office is open from 8-3:00 and we are eager to meet and greet you. Although fees may be paid and paperwork turned in
at your Orientation on August 25th, you may also come in now to avoid the lines.
8th grade students and families are invited to attend an Orientation on August 25, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. This year, students and their families will have an
opportunity to briefly meet their teachers, get their locker, pay fees, turn in paperwork, get school pictures taken, and attend informative workshops for the
new school year. This is not designed for extensive parent/teacher conversations. Although parent participation in our back to school night is highly
suggested, parents may drop their students off at 3:30 and pick them back up at 4:30.
Schedule
3:30-3:50
3:50-4:30
Pick up your student’s schedule in the Liberty Main Entrance, find their advisory class, and get their locker.
Rotate through three different stations:
Station 1: Follow your schedule and briefly meet your teachers
Station 2: Turn in paperwork and pay your fees (if not previously done)
Station 3: Get school picture taken for ID card and yearbook
To minimize crowds and wait times, please begin the station rotation based on last name. (For example, if your student’s last name is Jackson, you
would start by turning in paperwork and paying fees in station 2, then go get school pictures taken in station 3, then go meet your student’s teachers in
station 1.)
Last names A-G – Start at station 1
Last names H-M – Start at station 2
Last names N-Z – Start at station 3
Family Workshop Options
All workshops will be hosted three times and will begin at 2:30, 3:15, and 4:00
 Online Communications – Skyward is an online program which is extensively used by all teachers to communicate information about assignments,
attendance, missing work, and grades. This workshop will show parents how to navigate this program. Taught by TOSA, Saundra Mann or Megan
Johnson, in the 2nd Street computer lab (Room 201)
 Parenting in the Digital Age – Parenting a “tween” can be extremely difficult, especially now with the explosion of social media. This session will
address working with our scholars based on the work of Kathy Masarie, author of the books Raising Our Daughters and Raising Our Sons. Taught
by Liberty School Counselor, Billie Jo McEathron in the Library
 10 Tips for Academic Success – Learn how to help your student be a successful middle school scholar. This session includes ten things every
family can do to help their child be a better student and increase their academic success. Taught by Liberty School Counselor, Emily Fitch on
Liberty’s Division Street in Room 213
**New students and families! There will be a new student orientation session hosted by our PTO in the Commons from 4:30-5:00. There will be treats
and an opportunity to meet other new families and ask any unanswered questions. **
