REMODEL LEDX TRIMS D. SYSTEM COMPONENT IDENTENTIFICATION (Actual components vary by specification) RECESSED LEDX DOWNLIGHTS AND MOUNTING OPTIONS INSTALLATION Before beginning any DOWNLIGHT installation, disconnect electrical power at a main switch or circuit breaker. 6. Install and mount the recessed remodel LEDX downlight assembly on a structurally sound surface. 7. Do not install the recessed remodel LEDX downlight assembly closer than 6” from curtains, exotic veneers, or similar combustible or heat sensitive materials. 8. Ceiling side assembly of recessed remodel LEDX downlight may be installed in dry or damp locations only. 9. The National Electrical Code (NEC) requires a minimum spacing of 3” to insulation or any other combustible material on any non-IC installation. A. CAUTION To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and potential damage to the recessed housing assembly when electrical power is re-connected, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CONNECT the following on the branch circuit serving the recessed downlight assembly: •Motors •Power tools •Extension cords •Appliances or similar electronics REMODEL LEDX DOWNLIGHT (Example shown; profile varies by model) 10. Do not attempt this installation if you Non-insulation contact ONLY, to be mounted do not understand these instructions. in ceiling/plenum conditions where ambient temperatures do not exceed 40°C. 11. Remodel LEDX downlights may be installed flush with zero-sightline Ensure AC input voltage is protected against appliqué (not all models), or with surges & load shifts prior to power supply input. flange overlay collar. B. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 1. Read installation instructions completely before attempting installation. 2. Failure to follow these instructions may result in an improper installation and void the warranty. 3. Contact Lucifer Lighting Company with any questions or concerns before beginning any installation. 4. Ensure a qualified electrician will perform all electrical procedures. 5. Disconnect electrical power circuit before attempting to install the recessed remodel LEDX downlight assembly, replace the lamp or downlight trim assembly, or if adding to or changing the configuration of the downlight assembly. INSTALLATION Accessing splice compartment/ driver assembly and wiring: Access splice compartment/ driver assembly by removing Philips head screw on base of compartment housing and removing lid (fig.1). Make proper splice connections. Replace compartment lid by mating tab on base with slot in cover and fasten with screw through compartment base. Splice compartment profile may vary slightly from depiction Installation of remodel LEDX downlight with EDL-ZF flange overlay collar: Carefully inspect the EDL-ZF collar for any visible damage which may have occurred during shipping. Continuously bending and extending the collar tabs may fracture the tab and result in an improper installation. Handle with care. EDL-ZF with tabs extended. The use of a hole saw is recommended (fig.3). 3.50” 89mm Fig.3 Note: Bevel room side edge of cut-out to ensure collar lip installs flush with ceiling surface (fig.4). Test for flush fit before step 2. Fig.1 Splice compartment/ driver assembly provides 3 wires for splicing: black, white and green (fig.2). Use appropriate wire racing and connectors or strain reliefs as required (see section F-2) through appropriate knock-out in splice compartment. When all splices have been made, replace splice compartment door or cover. See last page of these instructions for specific driver wiring. The Zero-Sightline Appliqué Kit provides an adapter to allow a “flush” installation of Lucifer Lighting Company downlight fittings. The instructions provided in this guide can have a large effect on the end result of the appliqué and downlight fitting installation. A To ensure proper results, follow the outlined procedures for installation of zero-sightline appliqué kits. B DESCRIPTION Screw Appliqué Split Collar Plaster Plug Fig.17 STEP 4 Begin threading screws through appliqué and collar. Use only manufacturer provided screws; use all screws. Compound and flange are even When paint is dry, remove plaster plug making sure adhesive tape is removed as well. Check for any drywall compound or paint that may have seeped beneath plug and carefully scrape if necessary. Any foreign material left in or on recessed appliqué surface may prevent proper zero-sightline installation of downlight trim. LEDX remodel downlights should be installed by a registered electrician and shall comply with National Electric Code (NEC) and local codes and ordinances having jurisdiction. 2. The installer of the LEDX remodel downlight is responsible for furnishing proper electrical equipment and materials for the installation as intended by these installation instructions. 3. Install LEDX remodel downlights in a manner to permit access to components and splice connections which may require future service. 4. The ground wire at the service junction box shall be secured to a ground screw. No part of the secondary circuit shall be grounded. 5. For systems that will be dimmed verify with the controls manufacturer compatible dimmers and proper installation procedures. 6. The LEDX remodel downlights are thermally protected as required by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). Cycling lamp may indicate that the installation is improper and the surrounding space above the ceiling is causing over-heating. Check if insulation is too close to any of the components of the LEDX remodel downlight system.
