To be eligible for consideration for admission to the various courses in Temasek Polytechnic, applicants must obtain 26
points or better for the net ELR2B2 aggregate score (i.e. English Language, 2 relevant subjects and best 2 other subjects,
including CCA Bonus Points) and meet the minimum entry requirements as shown in the table of courses in this section.
CCA cannot be used to meet the minimum entry requirements. For Aggregate Types Computation Criteria (for Polytechnic
courses), please refer to Table 6 under Section 5 – Aggregate Types Computation Criteria.
The “2015 JAE ELR2B2” in the table below shows the net ELR2B2 aggregate of the lowest ranked students who were
admitted to these courses through the 2015 Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE). These aggregate scores are meant as a
reference for applicants applying to these courses, and do not constitute the admission scores for subsequent admission
exercises.

All successful applicants are required to pass a pre-enrolment medical examination. An applicant with a medical condition
may be assessed further to verify the severity of the condition and to determine suitability for the course posted to.
① Applicants with complete Colour Vision Deficiency are not eligible to apply.
② Applicants with partial or complete Colour Vision Deficiency are not eligible to apply.
③ For safety reasons, applicants applying for these courses must ensure that they do not suffer from medical conditions
such as uncontrolled epilepsy or profound hearing loss.
④ Applicants with severe vision impairment are not eligible to apply.
⑤ Allocation of options/ electives/ specialisations will depend on students fulfilling the prerequisite of completing selected
modules, meeting criteria, and also availability of places in the respective courses.
 In addition to satisfying the Fitness requirement at the Polytechnic’s pre-enrolment medical examination and medical
requirements of other regulatory authorities (if applicable), applicants offered a place in T54 (Diploma in Early
Childhood Studies) must also be free from physical disabilities.
Whilst not comprehensive, the following medical conditions may lead to non-acceptance into the Early Childhood
Studies course:

⑦ Applicants admitted to T54 (Diploma in Early Childhood Studies) and are keen to register as pre-school teachers after
graduation must ensure that they obtain a minimum of B4 in their GCE ‘O’ Level English Language (English as a First
Language) or a minimum band of 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS – General Training).
Applicants who do not meet the English Language requirement must ensure that they do so within 2 years of their
registration as pre-school teachers.
⑧ Students opting for any courses in the common programme must ensure that they satisfy the requirements as stated in
the footnotes under the respective courses.
 Apart from the JAE, candidates with 2015 GCE ‘O’ level results applying for admission into these courses should also
consider the Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise (JPSAE).

Besides the JAE, application for admission to the Early Childhood Studies (ECS) course is also conducted through the
Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise (JPSAE) for candidates with 2015 GCE ‘O’ level results. Applicants with
strong creative abilities, communication skills and a passion for working with young children as evidenced through
volunteering stints or part-time work arrangements in pre-school settings are encouraged to apply. Short-listed
candidates under the JPSAE will be invited for an interview.

JOINT POLYTECHNIC SPECIAL ADMISSIONS EXERCISE (JPSAE)
The JPSAE is conducted at the same time as the JAE. Students who possess exceptional talents in areas such as
leadership, community service, entrepreneurship, sports and the arts, or demonstrate a strong passion or aptitude for the
course applied for through work attachments, sustained involvement in projects and/or outstanding performance in
competitions may be considered. Short-listed candidates under the JPSAE will be invited for an interview and/or test.
