Great Hawthorn Adventure
The time has come once again for The Great Hawthorn Adventure!
This year we are going to find out what it truly means to live in color!
As the seasons change and
nature transforms around
us, we will be exploring
each color of the rainbow in
many different ways. Beginning with black and white, the colors will
reveal themselves in very different and fun ways around Rosewood
Estates. We will explore different artists, exercises, foods and more!
Please join Melanie (Activity Coordinator) as we dive into another
fantastic adventure together!

Resident Spotlight
Say hello to Art Booker. Art came to
Canada at the age of five from the
Ukraine and has lived in many places,
like Saskatchewan and Ontario.
Art worked for 40 years with Smith
Transport as a driver’s helper and
dock hand. Then he worked as a
janitor after he was injured on his
trucking job. Art, known as “Bo Bo
the Clown,” would dress up at his
trailer park where he loved to make
everyone laugh and smile. Art also
loves sports, including watching and
playing baseball. Art also volunteered
three days a week at the Carriage House for almost a year. Art is
always willing to help out whenever possible and is always smiling.
Art has been at Rosewood for four-and-a-half years and is so happy
he made the move here. It has truly given him a new outlook on life.

Tree Lighting Ceremony
Rosewood had their
annual Christmas Tree
Lighting Ceremony on
Tuesday, December 1st,
at 4 p.m. This event
is when all of the
residents come together
in the Atrium with our
entertainer, Hal Allison
and his wife, Jenny, to
sing Christmas Carols.

eggnog was passed out
to our residents to wait
for the big reveal. Our
Outside Christmas lights,
big Christmas tree in
the Atrium and many
of the other lights were
magically turned on by
the joyfulness and loud
singing of our residents
and staff. The residents

Rosewood’s Winter
Fashion Show
We all had a blast at our first winter
fashion show. Alia Tanjay supplied all of the
clothing for our wonderful ladies and Bling
on King was also there to accessorize the
ladies’ outfits. Many of the family members
were there to support their mothers, and
other members of our community were
here too, to get updated on the latest
fashions. We would like to thank everyone
for coming out to support us and making
this event such a huge success.

Special Volunteer
Lunch Celebration
On Thursday, November 19th, Rosewood held a
special lunch for all of our volunteers that on an
ongoing basis donate their time to help out with
various activities or special jobs that they have
offered to do around our building. These special
people help make Rosewood a better place.
Volunteering gives not only the people outside of
our community, but also our residents, a sense of
purpose and the good feeling that they are doing
something meaningful — it makes them feel good as
well. We would like to say thank you to the following

Rosewood Bazaar
Another successful Rosewood Bazaar has come and
gone, along with the vendors and shoppers; everyone
went home happy. We had 21 of our local vendors show
up for the wonderful, get-in-the-Christmas-spirit event. We
had a lot of variety for everyone’s shopping needs. Every
year word gets around throughout the community and
surrounding areas about the work that goes into making
this event well-attended. It really shows with the amount
of people that come through our building amazed at what
they see. It is gratifying to know that when your team
pulls together it reflects on how other people see the
building as well. Good job, team! Keep up the good work!
