GREEN Strategy & Environment Jones Graduate School of Business Rice University 6100 Main Street, MS-531 Houston, Texas 55005 Cell: 801-636-0131 E-mail: Colby.D.Green@rice.edu RESEARCH STATEMENT I think of myself as a non-market strategic management scholar, with an emphasis in corporate political activities. This interest arose out of an internship and subsequent full-time job working in the Utah Senate. Since my work on Utah’s Capitol Hill, two questions have plagued me: First, what is different about firms (or their behavior) that are successful in their efforts to affect policy outcomes as compared with firms who are not successful? Second, in what ways do government policies benefit or harm business – both individually and collectively? Said differently, how do specific policies affect firm performance? These questions tend to focus my scholarly interests on (1) understanding differences among the various types of corporate political activities, and (2) examining the outcomes of corporate political activities.
