RULES AND REGULATIONS
As a member of the Cornell community, we expect you
to comply with the rules and regulations of the
University, including the CURIE Academy Code of
Conduct. The welcome program on Sunday will include
a review of the Code of Conduct. However, for your
immediate reference, the following are a few highlights
from the code:
 CURFEW
You are expected to observe the 11 PM curfew
that all Cornell summer program students must
observe. However, you will be under the
supervision of a Program Assistant or other
CURIE Academy staff member at all times.
Evening activities will end before 11 PM, so you
should not be in violation of the curfew.
Abuses such as leaving the residence hall or
any other program activities unsupervised may
result in immediate dismissal from the
program.
Page 1 of 2 | CURIE‐Planning For Your Arrival
 GORGES
As beautiful as they are, for safety reasons the gorges on
and around campus are off limits to summer program
participants. The only exception is the arranged group
tour of the gorges during the Earth and Atmospheric
Sciences field session.
 DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
All Cornell summer program students are restricted from
using, possessing, or selling alcoholic beverages,
cigarettes, and/or illegal drugs. In addition, students may
not be present on any premises where liquor (except
restaurants) or illegal drugs are sold or served.
 PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, etc., must not be used
during class sessions, project sessions, group time, etc.
Electronic devices will only be available for use at
designated times such as breaks and at the end of the
day’s activities.
SECURITY ON CAMPUS
The Cornell University Police is the law enforcement agency for
the Cornell community. Cornell Police operates 24 hours a day,
every day. If your parents need to contact you in an emergency,
they should first call the CURIE Academy Director (during the day)
or the Residence Hall Director (during the evening). If necessary,
they may also call the Cornell Police at 607‐255‐1111.
(Telecommunications Device for the Deaf: 607‐255‐
1113).
If you have an emergency while on campus or you need
information, notify an Academy staff member. If
necessary, you may also call the Cornell Police at 607‐
255‐1111, pick up one of the Blue Light emergency
phones (which are located throughout the campus), or
call 911.
CORNELL UNIVERSITY HEALTH SERVICES
If you should become ill or injured while participating in
the Academy, a program staff member will assist you in
getting medical attention. The Gannett Health Center is
open weekdays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Clinicians and
nurses are on duty at all times during these hours. After
hours, you may consult with one of Gannett’s doctors
over the phone; if you need to see a doctor, you will be
referred to the Cayuga Medical Center’s Urgent Care
Center or the emergency room.
Note: Cornell University does not provide
accident/medical insurance for camp/academy
participants. In the event of illness or injury requiring
treatment, hospitalization, or surgery, family/personal
medical insurance must be used to cover medical
