There is an additional fee to park on campus
during your stay. The parking permit allows you
to park in a designated lot (CC or A Lot) located in
close proximity to the Townhouses and Mews Hall.
● Option A — North Campus Townhouse
Each air-conditioned townhouse has one bathroom,
a kitchen, living area and two bedrooms and will
be shared by four union sisters.
($640 per person for the week)

● Option B — Mews Hall Dormitory
Private bedrooms are air-cooled (i.e. fans and
cooled air, not air-conditioning). There is one
bathroom shared by up to 5 individuals. There is a
communal kitchen and lounge areas on each floor.
($715 per person for the week)

● Option C — Commute
The cost for commuters is $450 per person and
includes tuition, meals and internet access.
Transportation
Cornell University is easily accessible by car, bus
or plane. Driving instructions as well as airport

($36 for the week).
Scholarships
A limited number of partial and full scholarships
are available and will be awarded based on
individual needs and the specific requirements of
the granting organization.

body to cover your registration costs before you
apply for a scholarship.

Child Care
This year because of limited resources and a lack
of child care providers on campus, we regretfully
cannot offer childcare.
Cancellation & Refunds
● Cancellations must be received in writing.
● Full refunds are available until June 21.
● Written cancellations made after June 21
will incur a late cancellation fee of $75.
● Registered participants who fail to cancel in
writing prior to the start of the summer school and
do not attend the program (i.e. no-shows) will not
receive a refund except in extreme circumstances
addressed on a case-by-case basis. The Worker Institute at Cornell
All rooms and campus facilities are non-smoking.
The fees for Options A and B include tuition,
housing, meals, and internet access.

The Program
UNION
All students attend classes designed to teach and improve
leadership skills. In addition, each student chooses two
workshops, which meet daily throughout the week.
Summer school instructors are union officers and staff and
labor educators from universities and unions. Experts on
current union issues are invited as guest speakers and will share their knowledge throughout the week.

The 38th UALE Northeast Regional Summer
School for Union Women, July 20-25, 2013, is a
five-day residential program, sponsored by the
United Association of Labor Education (UALE).
