GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS
Palimpsest accepts submissions on a rolling basis. Submissions are reviewed anonymously by members
of the editorial board and by readers in the appropriate fields. The editors invite submissions of scholarly
essays, interviews, and archival documents.
All manuscripts should be submitted electronically to: palimpsestjournal@vanderbilt.edu
Manuscripts that are under review elsewhere or that have been previously published will not be
considered by Palimpsest. We also do not accept unsolicited book, film, or video reviews.
ESSAY PREPARATION
All submissions must be typed in Times New Roman 12 font, double-spaced, and accompanied by a title
page containing the author's name, postal address, phone number, and e-mail address. Scholarly articles
should follow the latest version of the Chicago Manual of Style
(http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html).
Manuscripts not following this style will not be accepted for publication. In order to facilitate the process of
anonymous peer review, the author's name should not appear on the manuscript. All references in the
essay and notes that might identify the author should be removed. Manuscripts should be no longer than
35 pages. An abstract of 150 words must accompany the submission. Submissions without abstracts will
not be considered for review.
