The Team includes: Vice President- Adrian Leiva, Academic Dean at Muffles Junior College, Belize; Treasurer- Sharon Alleyne, Accreditation Officer, Barbados Accreditation Council Secretary- Christopher Chinapoo, Quality Assurance Manager, Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad and Tobago Board Member- Lisa Henlin, Accreditation Officer, University Council of Jamaica Board Member- Deborah Jack, Executive Director, Guyana National Accreditation Council Board Member- Lyndon Abdool, Manager, Quality Assurance, Research and Effectiveness , Council of Legal Education, Hugh Wooding Law School The Board also comprises ex officio member, Dr. Ruby S. Alleyne, The University of Trinidad and Tobago, Immediate Past President of CANQATE, and will be supported by three Regional Coordinators, Dr. Angela Penny, University Council of Jamaica, Ms. Pamela Dottin, The University of the West Indies, and Ms Sherma Joseph, the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago. The Regional Coordinators are appointed as members of the Board of Management of CANQATE. The new Board is committed to providing strategic leadership that will facilitate the growth of a quality culture and improved student experiences at tertiary institutions across the region. In this context, the new Board of Management will work towards the realisation of CANQATE’s vision, mission and stated purpose of being a high performing Centre of Excellence in Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education with a strong membership base that influences positive outcomes from the tertiary education sector in the Caribbean. To this end, CANQATE will continue to pursue progressive approaches and innovations aimed at increasing its membership base, improving stakeholder relations and support, enhancing institutional sustainability, and building institutional capacity to develop a pervasive quality culture in regional tertiary education. The new Board is also committed to continuing the Quality Footprint Initiative (QFI) which was launched this year and is the brainchild of the Immediate Past President; improving communication flows; enhancing revenue streams; implementing initiatives to increase membership value; grow membership; and developing meaningful collaborations and partnerships that advance the mission and vision of CANQATE. The Board also accepted the proposal made by the Guyana National Accreditation Council at the recently concluded CANQATE Annual Conference in St. Kitts and Nevis to host the conference in 2016. The theme of the next year’s Conference will be “Sustaining a Culture of Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education for National and Regional Development”. As is the norm, the CANQATE Secretariat moves with the President and will now be located at the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago. The new Board looks forward to its term of Office and pledges to continue to enhance the culture of quality in tertiary education throughout the region.
