What are some of the AIADs SOSH will offer in 2016?
Conflict and Human Security Studies: partner with an NGO to volunteer in a developing country, where you will
increase your cross-cultural competence and learn about critical human security issues.
These opportunities are open to all cadets, regardless of all majors
Although very early in the planning process for 2016, we are exploring opportunities in Mongolia, Nepal,
Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Samoa, Haiti, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Morocco, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Tanzania. For
these opportunities, we will partner with NGOs such as Cross-Cultural Solutions, Projects Abroad, Give Hope
Global, and others.
Other OCONUS Programs (non-NGO): SOSH offers a variety of travel opportunities, ranging from internships and
academic courses to research projects.

 Prague, Czech Republic: American Institute on Political and Economic Systems (AIPES)

 Peace and Dialogue Leadership Initiative trip to Israel: partner with student leaders from Yale, Penn, and
Georgetown and travel to Israel and the West Bank to meet with experts on both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict. This trip enables the participants to develop a nuanced understanding of the conflict and then
encourages them to build a network with each other to discuss a coherent strategy for achieving peace in the
region.
 Internship at the NATO HQ in Brussels, Belgium
 Joint Research Project with the ALLIES Program at Tufts University: travel internationally with USNA midshipmen
and Tufts students (program location TBD) to learn about civilian military relations.
 Internship with the US Embassy in Asuncion, Paraguay
Grand Strategy and Winant Scholar programs: travel internationally (countries TBD) to study texts and contexts
focusing on historical and philosophical traditions that influenced the American Founding.

American Politics, Policy, and Strategy (APPS): work in some of our Nation's most distinguished public offices to
expand your institutional knowledge of American politics, national security, policy, and defense economics.
