The essay contest is open to only 9th-12th grade students. There will be an elementary (2nd-6th grade) and intermediate (7th-12h grade) division All submissions must be original. All submissions are subject to be displayed at Butterflies By Grace Defined By Faith events and programs. Contest Prizes: First Place: $100 Gift Card Second Place: $75 Gift Card Third Place: $50 Gift Card Art Contest Artwork must be no smaller than 13 inches by 20 inches (33 centimeters by 50 centimeters) and no larger than 20 inches by 24 inches (50 centimeters by 60 centimeters). Do not mat or frame artwork. Only one entry per student per year, and each entry must be the work of only one student. All artwork must be the individual student's original creation. Duplications are not accepted. All media are accepted. Note: Chalk, charcoal and pastel entries should be sealed with a fixative spray to prevent smearing. Do not laminate entries. Three-dimensional entries will not be accepted. Nothing may be glued, stapled or attached to the artwork in any way. The use of lettering or numbering on the front of the poster, in any language, is not allowed. All artist signatures or initials should be written on the back of the poster. 9th-12th Grade Essay Contest The essay must be entitled: Considering what is happening in classrooms today, what should teens and parents do to become a warrior and prevent teen dating violence The essay must be original and neither previously published nor secured by copyright. The essay must be between 700 and 750 words in length. Three type-written, double-spaced copies must be submitted via postal service or email in .doc or .pdf format by the deadline. Creative Arts Contest Write an original poem, speech, music-voice, or dramatization based on the following topic: Considering what is happening in classrooms today, what should teens and parents do to become a warrior and prevent teen dating violence No group presentations will be accepted. Entries must be performed at the summit on February 20. Entries must be written by the student. Creative arts entries may be of any style but cannot exceed a three-minute performance/presentation time allotment and must be appropriate for the audience. Music and Dramatization entries should be recorded and emailed to butterfliesbygrace@gmail.com or mailed on a CD, DVD, or USB. Poetry and speeches should be typed using 12 point Times New Roman, Verdana, or Georgia. Poems and speeches should not exceed three pages.
