My Student Essay
My work ethic in the classroom, today, plays a role in my future career plans because it will help
me succeed and earn trust with those I will work with in my future career. I believe that there are five
main, good work ethics; character, productivity, cooperation, reliability, and dedication. Those who
possess a strong character, most likely have a good work ethic. To have character means that they push
themselves to complete work, instead of requiring others to intervene. They are also trustworthy and
very honest, these individuals view these traits as beneficial to the high-quality employees they seek to
become. To demonstrate their strong character, these workers embody these positive traits daily, likely
distinguishing themselves from the rest.
Those with a good work ethic, work at a consistently fast pace, and are often highly productive.
They commonly get large sums of work finished faster than others who lack their work ethic, as they
don’t quit until they have completed all presented tasks. This productivity, at such high level, is also due
to the fact that these individuals want to appear as stronger workers. The more productive they are, the
more beneficial to the company they will be.
Cooperative work can be very beneficial in a business environment; being cooperative is
something those with a good work ethic know well. Because they recognize the usefulness of
cooperative practices, they usually put an extensive amount of effort into working well with others.
These individuals respect their bosses enough to work with those in which they are paired with, in a
respectful and polite manner, no matter how much they do not enjoy working with those other
individuals in question.
Reliability is a big part of having a good work ethic. When individuals with a good work ethic cay
they are going to something, they do it. Whether it is attending a certain work function, or saying they
will arrive at a certain time, they will go out of their way to do so, as they value punctuality. Often
appearing dependable, those with a strong work ethic show their employers that they are workers to
whom they can turn to. As a result of this, they put large efforts into portraying this dependability by
performing consistently and being reliable.
Dedication to their jobs and doing anything that they can to ensure they perform well are also
characteristics of a wonderful work ethic. This dedication often leads those individuals to change jobs
not as frequently, as they become more committed to their positions in which they work. They tend not
to be eager to abandon their posts. They also put in extra hours beyond what is expected, making it easy
for their employers to see that they are truly dedicated to their position.
These are all good work ethics I portray in the classroom. These work ethics will definitely play a
large role in my future career as being a surgeon. Preferably, a neurosurgeon is what I am interested in
becoming at this time. To have a character as a surgeon is a great part of having a good work ethic
because I want to be able to complete a surgery whether I am stressed or not to make others happy.
This is an independent, yet, dependant job. I am able to do this job myself, but if I need extra advice or
help that is available I am willing to ask for it, without feeling shameful. I show these working skills
consistently, still at a fast pace, which means I am productive. I will be able to get a job finished as fast
as possible, still concise, without lacking or becoming distracted. Being cooperative is also a large
portion of being a surgeon. I will work well with others in a polite manner even if I do not enjoy that
individual’s company, f my boss told me to do so. My boss and employers will be able to rely on me
because I am and will be dedicated to my positions, to go out of my way to do whatever I say I will do,
whenever I say I will do it, and also when I am told.
Participating in extracurricular activities has many benefits for students and their education
process. Such as joining clubs and extra classes can be a way to share interests with others and enhance
skills. This active participation in organization can also be beneficial when looking for scholarship
opportunities that help pay for college. More benefits of extra-curricular activities can be an excellent
way to get letters of recommendation; many academic and non-academic scholarships programs
consider the involvement in extracurricular in the selection process. Many scholarship programs reward
leadership experience, and becoming part of extracurricular activities show leadership. Being part of
extracurricular activities is also a great way to get into colleges. Colleges are more interested in outsideof-school activities, rather than inside of school activities. Sports are some of the most important
extracurricular activities because being active is being healthy, and a healthy body leads to a healthy
mind, and a healthy mind is a strong mind. Requiring a strong mind is great to have while going through
school. Although, being in a sport isn’t an extracurricular activity for me, more of a hobby. My
extracurricular activities are Mathcounts, French, and Spanish 1.
Mathcounts is a great way to receive extra study for my algebra class. Math is the most
important thing to understand. The ability to learn math is so important because math is what makes
the world go round, it’s in everything, including sports. I take French and Spanish 1 because knowing
other languages is also highly important for the education process. Knowing other languages is
important, most colleges, especially higher educated colleges like Harvard, Yale, Princeton expect
students to have the work the ethics and to know importance of other languages. To know these ethics
and importance of other languages is also a great addition to getting a job or receiving a career started
because most companies also expect, or would rather have a multilingual applicant over a monolingual
applicant. Being bilingual or multilingual gives a greater chance of becoming accepted at a college and
employed at a job.
Hobbies also play a role in the education process. My hobbies are tumbling, reading, and
kayaking. These are not extracurricular activities because these are activities I do in my leisure time out
of pure self-motivation. My hobbies are regularly done for pleasure. By continually participating in my
hobbies, I can and I do, acquire substantial skills and knowledge in these areas. Without reading, people
would not be able to learn, learning makes up the education process. There are also numerous benefits
associated with reading; improvement of vocabulary, glimpses into other cultures and places, selfesteem, and improves memory. These benefits all play important roles in the education process, to
improve how I look at things and I make concepts simpler to understand. My education is important to
me, and I completely understand that education is what makes the world go round. This is why my main
focus in my life right now is my schoolwork.
