The Department of Mathematics at Central Michigan University
(CMU) has more than 35 regular faculty with terminal degrees
and expertise in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Math
Education, Statistics, Data Mining, and Actuarial Science.
The department provides an M.S. in Applied Statistics and
Analytics, an M.A. in Mathematics, a Ph.D. in Mathematics
featuring three different areas of emphasis (Mathematics,
Mathematics Education, and Statistics), the Graduate Certificate
in Data Mining, and the Graduate Certificate in Actuarial Science.

The certificate program is offered with a partnership with
SAS. Two SAS professional Certification Exams are offered
on site for students: SAS Base Programming and SAS Data

A Statement of Purpose with evidence of interest in
quantitative subjects.
Assistantships
A limited number of Graduate Assistantships
(GAs) are available. Details are on our department’s
website, at www.mth.cmich.edu. (Look for Academic
Program > Graduate > Prospective Graduate Students).
Overall undergraduate cumulative Grade Point Average
(GPA) of 3.0 or higher (on a U.S. 4.0 scale), with at least one
course in statistics or probability.
