The advertising design industry is one of the most
creative and dynamic in the United States,
employing over 284,000 people with annual
expenditures of over $200 billion. Advertising
agencies, graph- ic design firms, corporate
communications departments, publishing companies, television studios and other design-related
operations offer many challenging and rewarding
careers as advertising art directors, graphic
designers, computer graphics and website
designers, illustrators, comic book artists and
packaging designers.
New York City, the leading center of advertising
design in the United States, with over 2,000
advertising agencies, design studios, publishing
and new media companies, offers graduates many
possibil- ities for full-time or free-lance employment in the field.
Founded in 1946, the department has an
outstanding 50+ year record of preparing men and
women for creative careers in advertising, graphic
design and communications media. It offers two
degree pro- grams in advertising design: a
two-year lower-division program lead- ing to the
associate in applied science (AAS) in art and
advertising design and a four-year program
leading to the bachelor of technology (BTech)
degree in communication design. The department
also offers certificate, AAS and BTech degree
programs in graphic arts. For the convenience of
those employed in the advertising design industry
or elsewhere, the department makes courses
available during day and evening hours on either a
full- or part-time basis.

Welcome to the Department of Advertising Design and Graphic Arts
(ADGA). Since 1946 ADGA has prepared men and women for rewarding
careers in the dynamic field of graphic communications.
In the New York metropolitan area, advertising, printing and publishing
account for more than $13 billion in revenue and employ well over
200,000 people. As a graduate of our program you can expect to find
employment as an art director, computer graphics artist, graphic
designer, illustrator, web or new media designer, graphic arts pre-press
specialist, customer service rep, graphic arts estimator, graphic arts
production manager or digital asset manager, to name a few job titles.
