The Position Reporting to the Vice President for University Student Initiatives, the Executive Director of the Career Services provides visionary, strategic leadership for a comprehensive department serving the career development, experiential education, and job search interests of ASU students. Located on the Tempe campus, the Executive Director directly manages a staff of 23 comprising five teams: career development; experiential education; employment services; systems/information management, research and assessment; and business office management. Priorities include advancing innovative solutions to meet the full spectrum of career development needs of a growing student population; strengthening and expanding partnerships with employer representatives in the business & industry, non-profit, and education sectors; and collaborating with the 23 schools and colleges, alumni association, and other ASU representatives. Additionally, the Executive Director assures the operation and mission of career services functions on each of the four ASU campuses are strategically aligned and builds effective working partnership with ASU academic advisors and career service colleagues in schools and colleges across the University. The Executive Director maintains a student-centered, forward looking operation; oversees assessment functions and the articulation of outcomes to internal and external stakeholders; serves as the primary spokesperson with the media on career-related issues of students; manages a budget of $1.5 million; and supports the mission of the University and Student Affairs. Qualifications A master’s degree and a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience demonstrating visionary leadership, successful relationship-building, innovative programming, and support to students are required. Superior public relations, communication, and interpersonal skills; understanding of the career development process; familiarity with the evolving job market, recruitment trends, and technological advances in this field; management ability; and an appreciation for the complex mission of a dynamic research institution will be important considerations in the selection of the Executive Director of Career Services.
