Description
The English in Action tutor program (EIA) is a volunteer-run
program where international students, scholars and spouses
are matched with a volunteer tutor to help them improve
their English fluency, to better understand the American
culture and help them acclimate to their new environment.
Our tutors are community members, faculty, staff, and
students. Conversation partners usually meet for 1.5 to 2
hours per week at the International Center or at another
location that is convenient for both.
Evening and weekend classes are available through the
English for Academic & Professional Development(EAPD)
program, which include Oral Presentations, Business
Writing, Academic Writing, Scientific & Technical Writing,
Pronunciation, Grammar & Vocabulary Building, Grammar &
Editing and Conversation.
10% discounts are available for early enrollment, staff,
faculty, students and alumni. UCSD Undergrad & Grad
students can also apply for Complimentary Vouchers for up
to $400 for one class. Undergrads need to go directly to
Building C at Extension, phone 534-3400 for dates of when
you can get the vouchers – it’s usually the week before
classes start. OGS will send an email out to Grad students
when the vouchers are available and students can get a
voucher every other quarter.
