Energetically, backbends can be especially powerful by opening up the energetic heart center to a sense of lightness and allowing the expansive energy of the heart to flow more freely. When practiced honestly, backbends are empowering and dissolve fears that commonly arise when practicing these poses. During this playshop, we will explore the Art of Arch Making in traditional, standing, and inversional backbends. All levels are welcome and modifications will be given as we develop the fundamentals of integrated back bending and refine the more intricate elements of these refreshing poses. ! ! This workshop is revolutionary in that it is not about telling you what is the “right” way or the “wrong” way to practice, teach, or assist. This workshop is about understanding the intention behind a pose and how to choose modifications and assists wisely. It will also challenge you to practice, teach, & assist with intention as we explore the sometimes sticky web between codependency and nurturing with the student-teacher relationship. Whether you consider yourself a teacher or a student or both, you will be inspired to feel how the collaboration of touch, sound, breath, and honor are encouraging gifts that create space for movement and healing. ! ! Squeeze and Soak - Parivrtta Kriya Unraveled ! Come learn how to move from your deep core line and discover the best way to rotate for YOUR body and maximize the benefits. Twists delightfully create suppleness and freedom in the spine while stimulating and toning internal organs, particularly the kidneys, liver, and intestines. This yoga workshop will cover the basics of spinal rotation, beginning with structural harmony and culminating in deeper expressions ranging from supine, standing, arm balances, and inverted variations. Attendees are cautioned against eating heavily right before this workshop. Students with a history of spinal injury are encouraged to discuss limitations with the instructor in advance of the workshop.! ! 8 Limbs, 2 Hearts - The Art of Contact Yoga! Contact yoga is a fun and soulful way to connect with each other. Bring a friend, family member, or partner, or come as an individual and we'll match you up with a new friend. We will explore the gifts of each of the chakras and how they influence all our relationships. Partner yoga strengthens relationships by cultivating support, trust, connection, playfulness, and lots & lots of metta (loving kindness). This class will offer elements of seated and standing partner yoga, beginner acro yoga, as well as some relaxing thai massage to round out the practice.
