The Lion The great lion’s bellowing roar booms into the grassland, warning all the animals that he is the king of the animal kingdom. As the hungry lion roams through the grasslands quickly, powerfully and fiercely, he glares at any animal which dares look him. The colour of the smart lion is as gold as the grains of sand. The strong Lion’s golden mane crowns the sacred lion with all its glory. Its mane is like an old mans beard falling around its face. He looks to the past and sees what the old leaders have done; He now knows that he is going to be a good protector. Where the ghost cat lives there is one tree and the tree gives enough shade for sleeping. The stealthy lion looks over the village by roaring. Not many people hear it, but it protects the village. The great lion knows that only the chosen one can hear it. He sleeps soundly like an animal in hibernation. He goes to hunt a fierce, frightening hyena so he can have some food to live. The secret lion changes his roar from a roar of protection to a spell of finding. Whilst he changed his magic roar, mysterious creatures from the huge world crept into the secret, sacred village. Fierce, hungry, raging hyenas ransacked the village, scaring the villagers. The tired lion was sleeping so the situation got worse. However, the sacred lion stayed asleep. When the unholy beasts of the world would finish with one village they would go onto the next, destroying each village after another. Suddenly the great lion woke and he sprinted so that he could find the next protector. He ran like a bolt of powerful lightning to save the child. The strong lion had been asleep so the child was still sleeping. He found the child and immediately changed his roar to a roar of protection, even though he knew it would not last long because he was getting old. He grabbed the child and leapt up the grassy hills for security and safety. The stealthy lion taught the child how to catch its prey. He taught the child how to know where the grass is good. The brave lion taught the child each individual roar. The child leant everything that the sacred lion could teach the chosen one. The rest the child had to learn on its own accord. Up on the grassy hills, early in the morning the great Lion roared magically which turned the child into a strong Lion. The young lion heard the sacred Lion’s roar fade away. The young Lion knew that he was going to be the next protector. The young Lion had smooth fur, a rough mane and wild eyes. As the old Lion leapt into the shining sun the young Lion’s eyes filled with water and disappointment. The young lion looked up to the sun every day and he knew the old lion would help him when he gets in a sticky situation. The young lion was excited that he was the protector and would be for many generations. By Julian Green
