>> Traveler Advisory: New TSA Personal Data Requirements E ffective November 1, 2010, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Secure Flight will no longer accept passenger reservations (made within 72 hours of or at least 72 hours prior to departure time) that do not contain full Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD). All travel reservations must include, at the time of booking, each passenger’s: August 2010 - full name - date of birth - gender If this information is not provided by the traveler, airlines may issue a debit memo, inhibit ticketing and/or cancel the reservation. Effective immediately, all M&G travel agents must collect the full name, date of birth and gender of all passengers when the reservation is made. Federal Government’s Green Initiative on Travel I n October 2009, President Obama signed Executive Order 13514 to establish an integrated strategy toward sustainability in the federal government and to make reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions a priority for federal agencies. EO 13514 requires agencies to ― measure, report and reduce their GHG emissions from direct and indirect activities. The Council on Environmental Quality has issued draft guidance on how federal agencies should report emissions on business air and ground travel. Federal agencies may coordinate with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to report data “ into the GSA Travel MIS tool or with their travel agent to obtain employee air travel data through other means. For ground business travel (rail, bus, rental vehicle), agencies should coordinate with their travel agents and accounting departments to determine data availability. That way the pick-up time for the car will be correct. If you book the car first, the pick-up time will default to 9 a.m., and your flight might not arrive until 2 p.m. Car companies only have to hold the reservation for 2 hours past the pick-up time on the itinerary.
