In co-operation with INVITATION TO WORKSHOP HEATNET – DISTRICT ENERGY PARTNERS 3 DECEMBER, 2015 THE HEAT IS ON IN UK DISTRICT HEATING PRESENTING THE EMERGING OPPORTUNITIES IN THE MARKET FOR DISTRICT HEATING IN THE UK AND INTRODUCING DISTRICT ENERGY PROCUREMENT AGENCY (DEPA) House of Industry - Copenhagen – 3rd December, 2015 You are invited to a workshop aiming at presenting the opportunities in the rapidly growing UK district energy market and how suppliers of goods and services can more easily join this market through a new single point of entry – the District Energy Procurement Agency (DEPA). A recently launched member owned procurement organization for products and services related to district energy, DEPA has already organized more than 40 local authorities as members, and is expected to grow rapidly as it becomes operational in 2016. District Heating is on the move in Britain. A large number of local authorities in the UK are currently involved in planning and installing small scale heating networks, supported by the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC). This development is expected to accelerate in the years to come, driven by rising energy costs and growing focus on heat in policies on energy efficiency, climate change and energy security. Installing district heating involves some significant challenges – developing a competitive commercial offer to attract the targeted customers, defining the optimal design of the system, managing risks and secure financing, procuring and installing technologies and managing operations maximizing ROI while minimizing risks and environmental impact. In spite of these challenges, local authorities across the UK have come a long way down the road in preparing competitive district heating solutions. Extensive investigations and feasibility studies have confirmed the significant opportunities offered by district heating in terms of energy savings, ROI, job creation locally and environmental benefits. As a consequence focus is now shifting to the more practical questions of how to transform visions and plans into projects and operations. To actually procure technologies and services related to investments in district heating is becoming the next priority. The UK is about to become a major market for consultants, technology suppliers and installers in the district heating sector. You are invited to a workshop during which we will focus on DEPA and how this organization will benefit suppliers of district energy goods and services.
