Course Description
Bienvenido! Welcome to Ridgeline Spanish. Throughout this quarter we will be immersing ourselves in
the culture and language of Spanish speaking people around the world. We will be refining out
communication skills, gaining different cultural perspectives, comparing the Spanish language and culture
to our own connecting our world language skills to other subject areas and seeing the strong Latino
influence even within our own community.
Course Expectation
Everyone has the right to learn! Student are expected to take advantage of their right to learn and allow
others their right to do so as well. Students are expected to try; every accomplishment start with the
decision to try. Students are expected to show respect to themselves and others. Last but not least
students are expected to be responsible for their words and their actions.

Class Participation
Class participation is worth a maximum of 60 points every week; depending upon the amount of
instructional days that week. Participation is based on 4 categories, Directions/Rules, Attention, Conflict
and performance. Each category is worth 3 points for a total of 12 points a day.
Late Work
No classwork or homework will be accepted for credit after the date it
is due; unless a student is absent the day the assignment was given. If
a student is present the day an assignment is given but absent the day
it is collected it is due upon their return to school; otherwise the
assignment is considered late an therefor not accepted
Make-up Work
It is the responsibility of the student to gather any work missed during
an absence. Students should find an appropriate time to discuss with
me a timeframe for turning in absent work. Test and quizzes can be
made up before school after school but not during Spanish class or any
other academic classes.
Homework
Homework is due every Friday and it is worth 15 points. Homework may not be turned in late for credit.
Binder Check
Will happen at random throughout the quarter and are worth 15 points.
Extra Credit
There will be several opportunities for extra credit throughout the quarter. Extra credit point may not
exceed 50 points.
Progress Reports
An itemized progress report for Spanish will go out every 3 weeks to each student; or anytime upon
request. Progress reports should be signed and returned the next day for credit if the progress report is
not returned parents/ guardians will be contacted.
Extra Help
Extra help can be scheduled upon request before or after school.
Technology
Students will need access to internet at home in order to complete homework and keep up with what is
happening in class. All commonly used websites can be found linked to my website. If there is no access
to internet at home provisions can be made; but the teacher must be notified in a timely fashion. The
website most commonly used in Spanish class for homework, classwork and extra practice are, but are
not limited to, the following:
