Butler County, OH, Recorder’s Office Receives Award for Electronic Document
Recording (eRecording)
Hamilton, OH : The Butler County Recorder’s Office recently received an award for its dedication to the eRecording industry from Corporation Service Company® (CSC®).
The CSC eRecording All-Star Awards recognize government recording offices that have advanced eRecording and honor the work of clerks and recorders who have implemented and promoted the use of eRecording technology.
CSC awarded the Butler County Recorder ’s Office with the “Model County Award.” This award recognizes a recording office with a long and established history of eRecording documents and of serving as a model for other offices.
The Butler County Recorder’s Office started the first PRIA-compliant eRecording program in
Ohio and has since moved its eRecording percentage from 3% in 2005 to 30% in 2013. It is the only county in Ohio that works directly with the county s heriff’s department to process sheriff’s deeds more quickly, and the only Ohio county to have a program in place with the Child Support
Enforcement Agency to file non-support liens directly from the courtroom.
“When everyone was saying, ‘you just can’t do this,’ Butler County said, ‘yes we can!’” said
Danny Crank, Butler County Reco rder. “We’ve traveled all over the state promoting and encouraging other counties in Ohio to jumpstart their eRecording acceptance. I have spoken at conferences for the Ohio Recorders’ Association, the Ohio Land Title Association and the Ohio
Bar Associati on and explained why Ohio needs to move forward.”
Crank has served as the county recorder since his election in 2000. He has held several positions in the Ohio Recorders’ Association, including serving as its president in 2008. Crank is currently the chair man of the association’s legislative committee.
“Butler County and Danny Crank are an inspiration to others in the eRecording industry,” said
Mark Rosser, vice president for CSC. “The recorder’s office has made a significant impact in
Ohio in advancing electronic document recording of real estate documents, and now the office is focused on expanding that technology to other areas. Butler County truly is a model eRecording county.”
A committee composed of CSC management and operations staff selected the award winners, who will also receive commemorative trophies to honor their accomplishments.
