CEAP REGION IV – LUCENA REPORT for the PERIOD October 2009 – July 2010 LUCENA DIOCESE CATHOLIC SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION The three-year strategic plan for 2007-2010 served as the basis for the action of the new set of Board of Directors in carrying out its responsibilities to achieve the association’s Vision and Mission. This report contains the association’s accomplishments for July, 2009– July, 2010 vis-à-vis the strategic plan as follows: On Governance and Management The association has 23 member catholic schools with 15,095 students, 567 faculty and 142 school administrators. These schools are from Lucena City (5), Tayabas (3), Lucban (1), Mauban (1), Sariaya (4), Candelaria (1), Tiaong (2), Dolores (2), Pagbilao (1), Atimonan (1), Unisan (1), and Padre Burgos (1). To ensure the regular operations and business of the association, the board met every two months which brought to five (5) regular meetings and two special meetings during the year. The association applied for and was granted the Certificate of Incorporation in accordance with the Corporation Code of the Philippines (Batas Pambansa Blg. 68) by the Security Exchange Commission on July 9, 2009. The certificate grants juridical personality to the association. As a registered corporation, it shall submit annually to the SEC the reportorial and requirements for non-stock, non-profit corporations. The twinning program among schools implemented last School Year was evaluated by the new set of Board of Directors and was replaced by a Stewardship Clustering Program, retaining the same purpose of schools helping other schools in areas like increasing library holdings, in faculty development program, in sharing resources for schools improvement, in mentoring the administrators and faculty in the area of administration and major subjects and in providing venues and other facilities in the conduct of seminars and assemblies. Schools are grouped according to geographical location with an assigned lead-school to facilitate the program. On Quality of Instruction and Evangelization Teachers of member schools attended a two-day Seminar on Subtle Attacks against Family Explained (S.A.F.E) held at Lucena City on July 3-4, 2010 sponsored by the Diocesan Family and Life Commission. The seminar provided the teachers with the Catholic perspective on the issues of population control and sex education in schools. The survey “How Catholic is Your School” was conducted in 11 member schools which have a High School Department. The result of the survey was interpreted and a collated report of the result was presented during the Administrator’s Assembly held last July 30, 2010. The faculty and school administrators participated in an Advent Recollection held simultaneously in the four districts last December 2009. The Recollection was extended in the afternoon with the teachers having a Christmas Party enhancing camaraderie and friendship among them. The different schools sent participants to the Leadership Training for Student Leaders sponsored by Sacred Heart College, Lucena City held on November 14-15, 2009 which enabled the students to learn from each other and from the resource persons' new ideas on Servant Leadership. On Resource Management The association depended much from the membership fees of the students, faculty and administrators of the member schools for its operations. For the period under review, the association collected P175,140.00 from the 23 member schools: P143,490.00 (Students); P25,450.00 (Faculty) and P6,200.00 (Administrators). Relation with the Parishes/ Community The association has strengthened its support to the Diocesan programs such as Alay-Kapwa and Mission Sunday by intensifying the individual school’s collection through program orientation and re-orientation in the CL and Religious Education classes. Likewise, the schools were mobilized in providing relief goods to victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. Publicity and Promotion The Teachers’ Day was held on January 29, 2010 coinciding with the Bishop Marquez’Silver Episcopal anniversary. After participating in the Eucharistic celebration, the teachers gathered at Batis Aramin in Lucban, Quezon and spent the rest of the day enjoying the recreational facilities of the resort. The Association continued to recognize teachers who have rendered 10-years of service to their respective schools. There were fifteen (15) Service awardees last School Year. The awarding ceremony was held during the Teachers’ Day. The Christmas Gift-giving of the association benefited the public school elementary students of Brgy. Sadsaran, in Mauban Quezon. The gift-giving was held in Mother Perpetua Parochial School last December 11, 2009. After the Eucharistic celebration, the pupils participated in the parlor games and received their bundle of food supplies.
