Intermec Handset Setup Guide The first two things to check before following this guide. 1. Firstly on the handscanner you are setting up, click on Start > Programs, there should be a program called “Innov8 Innstore”. If it isn’t there (and only if not), remove the battery out the back and hold the black button for 5-10 seconds. The program will install when you boot up the Handset. 2. Check that the time is correct, this can be changed on the Desktop. You need to ensure that the handset has its own IP address and that it also recognises the Server IP address. You need note down the Server computer’s IP address as follows. On the Servers desktop click Start and then Run. In the white box type cmd and press enter. A black box (command prompt) should appear, if not try entering the command again. In the command prompt type ipconfig /all and press enter. Displayed on the screen will be the server settings and where it shows: IP. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 192.168.200.102 <<< this is the IP Address for the Server, however the .102 maybe different on some stores. Write this number down! The majority of servers out there are 192.168.200.102, so for this guide we will just assume that the Server IP is 192.168.200.102, however there are a select few older servers that are different and say 192.168.200.2. It will not be anything other than 192.168.200.102 or 192.168.200.2, if you are entering anything other than these 2 into the fields later for your server IP address then stop! Setting up the Handset 1. Select Start then Settings. 2. Select the Connections tab at the bottom. 3. Only if available - Select Network Adapters (if available skip to step 5). 4. Otherwise choose Connections. Click the Connections tab at the bottom if available, then the Connections button again. Finally click the Advanced tab. Network Card should be in there, which should display the same thing. The network card should connect to Work. 5. Select either LAN 9000 or Built-in Ethernet (only one of the two will be available) and then Properties. 6. Enter a. b. c. Values on the IP Address tab Handset IP – 192.168.200.111 Subnet Mask – 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway – 192.168.200.102 (or 192.168.200.2 if your server has that IP) 7. Select the Name Servers Tab and enter the Server address again into the 1st line only, like follows. DNS: 192.168.200.102 (or 192.168.200.2) 8. Select Apply (OK) 9. Close back to the Desktop and then give the handset a warm reboot by holding the yellow I/O button in for 5-10 seconds until the screen goes off and handset reboots. Setting up the the Innov8 Software Once the above has been completed, click on Start > Programs > Innov8 Innstore. If at any point it asks you to choose a location to save select SDMMC Disk or Memory Card. 1. Select Data Transfer and the Set Up Comms. 2. The first line should be your Server IP address 192.168.200.102 (or 192.168.200.2) 3. Embedded in the line starting HTTP: is also the Server IP, edit the IP address in this line to match your server IP address. Leave all the other characters in place. If accidentally deleted, the full path is http://192.168.200.102/ssce/sscesa20.dll (if your server is .102, otherwise end in .2) You will have to scroll the bar across to see the full line using the stylus. 4. Enter a Unit ID of any number between 1-99, however this number must be different to your other handsets. 5. Leave all other fields alone. 6. Save Changes. To test the stocktake scanner, sit it in the dock and “download product data” in the InnStore software. If this completes successfully and a barcode scans, you should be able to perform a stocktake using this handset at your store. Problems that may occur Step 1: IMPORTANT – Check the version number If you click File > Exit when in the Innov8 Innstore software on the scanner, then reopen the software it will quickly show you a version number in the top left This NEEDS to be 1.0.41 Not .42 or .39 or anything else. If it matches the above move to Step 2, If it doesn’t match the above, then exit the software again and follow the below (still on the scanner): 1. Click Start > Programs 2. Select File Explorer 3. At the top (just under where the windows logo is) Drop the menu down and select My Device 4. Select SDMMC Disk or MEMORY CARD (only one will be there) 5. Select CABFILES 6. IMPORTANT – Hold the pen on innstore.Arm until a menu appears and click Copy 7. Drop the menu down at the top (that says CABFILES) and select SDMMC DISK 8. Hold the Pen on an empty white space in here until the menu appears again and hit paste, if asked then overwrite 9. Once finished, click on the newly created innstore.Arm file and install 10. When prompted overwrite everything, and select yes or yes to all to go ahead with the install regardless of what it says After its finished, click ok in the top to go back to the scanners desktop and reopen the Innstore stocktake software and check the version number, if it doesn’t match the 1.0.41 stated above then follow the steps again but read them carefully. Step 2 – Reinstall the I8VBCore Files This is similar to Step 1, but with a different set of files. Some scanners only work with certain versions, so it is important you only try one at a time. First of all close the Innov8 Innstore on the scanner and follow the below: 1. Click Start > Programs 2. Select File Explorer 3. At the top (just under where the windows logo is) Drop the menu down and select My Device 4. Select SDMMC Disk or MEMORY CARD (only one will be there) 5. Select CABFILES 6. IMPORTANT – Hold the pen on I8VBCore until a menu appears and click Copy 7. Drop the menu down at the top (that says CABFILES) and select SDMMC DISK 8. Hold the Pen on an empty white space in here until the menu appears again and hit paste, if asked then overwrite 9. When finished go into the CABFILES folder again 10. This time hold the pen on I8VBCore_2002 until a menu appears and click Copy 11. Drop the menu down at the top (that says CABFILES) and select SDMMC DISK 12. Hold the Pen on an empty white space in here until the menu appears again and hit paste, if asked then overwrite 13. When finished go into CABFILES folder once again 14. Finally hold the pen on I8VBCore_2003 until a menu appears and click Copy 15. Drop the menu down at the top (that says CABFILES) and select SDMMC DISK 16. Hold the Pen on an empty white space in here until the menu appears again and hit paste, if asked then overwrite 17. Once its finished, click ONLY on the newly created I8VBCore file and install (do not install the other 2 yet or else it will overwrite the original) 18. When prompted overwrite everything, and select yes or yes to all to go ahead with the install regardless of what it says 19. After this has completed, close all the windows by clicking OK in the top right and relaunch the Innstore software to see if it works 20. If the error still appears, perform step 17 again but only with the I8VBCore_2002 this time and try the software again. If it still fails, then finally try the I8VBCore_2003. It is important you only install one I8VBCore file at a time, because only one will work with your scanner and everytime you install one it overwrites the other.
