BOOKS Our catalogue: You will find books on all aspects of science in the 500 section: 500 General science; 507.2 Primary science; 508 Nature; 530 Physics; 540 Chemistry; 550 Earth sciences; 570 Life sciences; 572 Biochemistry; 574 Biology; 581 Botany; and 590 Zoology. Books on Medical sciences can be found at 610. You can search by author, title or keyword. QCAT: Queens: Queen’s library has an excellent science collection, and you should find relevant material there if we don’t have it. An extensive collection of books on medicine are housed at the Medical Library. Belfast Public Library: The general Reference library on the 1st floor of the Central Library and all branch libraries have a collection of science books. Linen Hall Library: The Linen Hall library boasts an impressive collection of titles. To view the titles go to the Library at Queens, Online resources, E-Journals, Click on the Subjects Tab and then select either Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, or Physics, and then the Go button. To search for journal articles use CrossSearch, and select your subject area; e.g. Physical and Life Sciences, then either Biological Sciences, Chemistry or Physics, and you can search several databases at once. If a database has a padlock icon you have to search it individually, just click on the title. ST MARY’S EBOOKS We have several science related eBooks in our collection. ST MARY’S ONLINE RESOURCES PubMed Central – is a free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journals held at the U.S. National Institute of Health’s National Library of Medicine. Search by keyword or Journal title. QUEEN’S ONLINE RESOURCES Queen’s provide a very useful subject guide to relevant online resources available through Physical and Life Sciences and Medicine and Health Sciences. Journal articles are also available at RefWorks and SciFinder Scholar. Use your Queen’s online username and password to get full text articles. Encyclopedia of Life This is an ambitious project that aims to make available virtually all information about the variety of species present on earth. NASA The NASA website has pages for teachers and students of all ages, including a Kids Club with games. Primary UpD8 This site offers activities for 5 – 11 year olds and uses topical events to create engaging science lessons. Scibermonkey This site contains resources for a wide range of KS3 science units. Survival Rivals Survival Rivals is part of the Wellcome Trust’s offering for Darwin200. It consists of three experiment kits, as well as mass participation activities and workshops.
