BAJAJ GROUP POWER DIVISION
GOING THROUGH THE AGE OF
MULTIPLE BUSINESS EXPANSIONS
Enterprises have realised the need to manage OPEX better, given the steady
increase in business-related travel across multiple operations. The question is
if there is an alternate way to review those critical outstation projects and
monitor teams. Bajaj Group Power Division, faced such a challenge.
They wanted to explore newer avenues as a replacement to the continuous
business travel schedules.
DISTANCE LIMITS THE BUSINESS FOR
BAJAJ GROUP POWER DIVISION: THE CHALLENGE
The company’s management is based out of two locations - Noida and Mumbai,
while their operations are based across India. To track projects and performance,
it was mandatory that the top management travelled extensively across offices,
many a times at short notice. Inter-city travel was increasingly becoming expensive
and there were incremental costs involved. “Everyone cannot undertake travelling
to the various places and the top management sitting either at Mumbai or Noida
needed to interact on a daily basis with the sites,” says Dinesh Kumar,
CIO, Bajaj Group Power Division.
AIRTEL ENSURED OMNI PRESENCE FOR
BAJAJ GROUP POWER DIVISION: THE SOLUTION
Bajaj Group Power Division partnered with airtel for solutions which encouraged
collaborations and minimized business travel. There were many contenders in the
technology market providing Immersive Video Conferencing solutions, but Bajaj Group
Power Division wanted a solution tailor-made for their business scenario. Airtel suggested
Polycom’s Real Presence RPX Unit, one each at Noida and Mumbai, connected through
the Airtel Business Managed MPLS and state-of-the-art Business Telepresence Bridging
and VNOC Services. These solutions are highly scalable by design and compatible with
the existing video conferencing equipment. The solution could further extend to various
project offices through high-definition media
centres installed on premise.

The deployment of the video conferencing solution took precisely three weeks, post which it
went live right away. The key business benefits accrued were:
FASTER DECISION-MAKING BETTER PROJECT MANAGEMENT
REDUCED TRAVEL, RESULTING IN COST SAVING AND BETTER TIME MANAGEMENT
Bajaj Group Power Division also received an overwhelming response from various teams
within the company, as the telepresence room’s utilisation exceeded 120 hours per month.
“We found that we have almost recovered the ROI in one and a
half months. Plus, there is the added ease with which everyone is interacting and
at a frequent pace without disturbing their work schedules due to travelling,”
explains Kumar.
