Enrolment, Finance & Remission
Fee Remission Guide
Students in receipt of a means tested benefits such as Income Support, Council
Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, Working Tax Credit, Pension Credit, Universal Credit
(mandated to do training), Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Disability
Living Allowance (DLA) may be able to receive assistance with their fees. To claim
fee remission, you must provide current evidence of entitlement at enrolment.

Course Fees
There are tuition fees for most courses, which are
payable at enrolment, however for courses that are
Government funded, students may be able to claim
fee remission. There have been changes to fee
remission categories for 2015/16. Please see the Fee
Remission Guide. For students who do not qualify,
full payment of all fees is required at enrolment.
Please note, tuition fees do not include other fees,
such as materials / a Disclosure and Barring Service
check, formally known as an Enhanced Disclosure
from the Criminal Records Bureau, which may be
charged separately. Students may still be required
to pay these fees at enrolment. Refunds of other
fees are not made unless the course is cancelled.
For courses lasting less than 1 year, for example
6 weeks, the fee stated is for the duration of the
course. For courses lasting 1 academic year or
more, the fee stated is for year 1 of the course.
Please note that in this brochure a course
highlighted in red, that doesn’t also have an * by it,
is only being offered on a full cost basis. This means
the price isn’t subsidised by Government funding
but it is possible that the same qualification may
be available elsewhere through grant funding or
a loan.
Students under 19 years
If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August 2015,
you pay no tuition or exam fees for Government
funded courses, unless you are studying
somewhere else or course fees are being paid by
your training provider. Please note that students
under the age of 19 may not be able to enrol on
certain courses. Please enquire for details.

The amount you can receive depends on your
household income.
Overseas Students
Discretionary Learner Support Fund
Tuition fees quoted in the course list are for home
students – that is UK/EU/Swiss Nationals who have
resided in the UK, EEA or Switzerland for at least 3
years. If you are an overseas student, please visit
the Home Office website at
www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk for more
information.
The College has limited funding to offer students

Your place on a course is not secure until you have
completed your enrolment, including payment of
all fees and any additional course related costs,
over and above the published fees. Information
about these costs will be available at enrolment.
You will be asked for proof of your personal
circumstances if you are requesting a reduced fee.
Please keep your receipts of any course related
purchases.
What other support is available?
Depending on your age and course level there is
a range of financial support you can apply for to
help you on your course. Here are just some:

students aged 16-18 on a substantive programme

Higher Education Students
24+ Advanced Learning Loan Bursary
The College has limited funding to offer students
experiencing financial hardship to support with
childcare costs and travel. Support is dependant
on a household income assessment.
Refund Policy
If you withdraw from a course and notify the
College in writing prior to the course start date, a
full refund will be issued. If the withdrawal occurs
after the start date, no refund will be due. If the
College cancels a course, a full refund will be
issued within 30 days.
