DERMAL FILLERS
This protocol has been developed for combining Hyaluronic acid based fillers (e.g.
Juvederm) with non-invasive wrinkle correction treatment Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX. The
dermal filler injection can be combined with the first treatment of non-invasive wrinkle
treatment. It is also possible to perform the first few treatments to achieve a stable effect of
decrease in mimic activity and after that proceed with the dermal filler injection along with
the second or third treatment and complete the course of active mimic wrinkle correction
treatment within the next two or three weeks.
Regular client’s visits provide an aesthetic therapist with the opportunity to observe the
history of changes and to provide a supplementary injection or suggest additional methods
of rejuvenation if needed.
1. Proceed with stages 1, 2 and 3 of Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX treatment in
accordance with the protocol (see page 9 for details).
2. During stage 4 apply a local anaesthetic agent to the zones of supposed injection
treatment (instead of active Hexapeptide concentrate if planning a correction of
nasolabial folds). Apply the active concentrate on the zones of active mimic as
usual.
3. Proceed with applying the Fixing Patch Mask as usual. The hydrogel contained in the
mask will enable better penetration of local anaesthetic.
4. Remove the patch mask and make an injection.
5. Apply protective lifting cream avoiding the zone of injection.
MICRO-CURRENT TREATMENTS
It is possible to combine Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX treatment with micro-current
treatments (e.g. Guinot Hydradermie machine, CACI).
The micro-currents relax facial muscles, which contributes to a deeper penetration of
active ingredients into the skin.
1. Proceed with stages 1 and 2 of Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX treatment in
accordance with the protocol (see page 9 for details).
2. Apply the catalytic lotion onto the skin. Work with the micro-current machine on the
zones of active mimic for 10-12 minutes. The recommended current is 250-350 mA.
3. Continue with stages 4, 5, and 6 of Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX treatment in
accordance with the protocol (see page 9 for details).
3
BOTULINUM TOXIN INJECTIONS
Two different strategies are possible for combination of Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX
treatment and Botulinum Toxin based injections (Botox, Dysport, Vystabel, etc.).
Option 1. Start a course of Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX treatments at the end of the
Botulinum Toxin effective period (3-4 months after the injection depending on the individual).
This will allow “locking” the effect of injection and extending the period of muscle relaxation
up to one year.
Option 2. Perform a full course of Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX treatments before the
planned injection. The wrinkles will become smoothed and relaxed, and only the deepest
ones might require a BTA injection. A smaller number of units will be required and the effect
of the injection will last for longer.
PHOTOTHERAPY (VISIBLE LIGHT SPECTRUM)
Light therapy has been used for centuries to treat various skin conditions. It has been
observed that the light from different sides of spectrum (e.g. with different wavelengths) has
different effects on the skin. Thus, light waves with the length in the range 415–430 nm (violet
light present in sunlight) activates a porphyrin (Coproporphyrin III) in Propionibacterium
acnes which damages and ultimately kills the bacteria by releasing singlet oxygen, while red
lightwave therapy has traditionally been used for wound healing.
The recommendations below are given for machines working in visible light spectrum
(e.g. Q.Light by Medilux, Lumera by Daavlin).
1. Proceed with stages 1 and 2 of Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX treatment in
accordance with the protocol (see page 9 for details).
2. Apply the catalytic lotion onto the skin. Use phototherapy for 5-6 minutes, working
with cold wave spectrum (400-500 nm) to improve microcirculation and oxygenate
the skin.
3. Continue with stages 4, 5, and 6 of Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX treatment in
accordance with the protocol (see page Appendix A. Meder Beauty Science Visage
Anti Rides FX treatment protocol9 for details).
4. You can finish the treatment with another phototherapy session, this time working with
the red and yellow part of spectrum (600-650 nm) to stimulate the production of
collagen.
4
RADIOFREQUENCY TREATMENTS
The main principle of a radiofrequency treatment is in controlled penetration of electromagnetic waves into the deeper layers of the skin. The absorption of radio-waves causes
tissue heating as well as some structural molecular changes. Depending on the depth of
radio- wave penetration and its oscillation frequency different effects can be achieved.
Monopolar delivery of radiofrequency for cosmetic rejuvenation is based on applying a
single electrode to the treated area. A grounding, or “return pad” may also be used,
attached to the patient’s lower back or abdomen, to provide a low resistance path for the
current to flow back to the generating machine, to complete the electrical circuit. As a
result, the current goes deeply through the body (usually up to 20 mm), causing the
breakdown of fatty deposits and generating a focused wound healing response, which is
associated with collagen production.
As opposed to the one-directional electro-magnetic current flow used in monopolar and
bipolar devices, the unipolar devices use electro- magnetic field with rapidly changing
polarity. It causes the water molecules in deeper layers of epidermis to rotate, which,
combined with inherent resistance to the movement of ions, causes heat. This new
technology (used in Accent radiofrequency machines) is less traumatic, allows targeting
water molecules in adipose tissue directly and addresses the main disadvantage of
monopolar devices when the current finds a path through blood and lymphatic vessels,
whereas fatty cells are treated indirectly by the heat dissipated due to tissue resistance.
Bipolar delivery of radiofrequency for cosmetic rejuvenation is based on applying two closely
positioned electrodes to the treated area. The electric current that goes between the
electrodes is relatively small and shallow. As a result, the tissue in the treated area is heated
less deeply (usually up to 2-4 mm) and less intensely (compared to monopolar RF devices).
This type of treatment is used primarily to achieve skin tightening effect.
Depending on the indications we recommend the following three protocols for combination
with Meder Beauty Science Visage Anti Rides FX treatment. Please note that in all three
protocols the bipolar mode of radiofrequency device is used.
5
Protocol 1
Indications:
Patients over 50 years old with dominating gravitational changes in order to achieve a
simultaneous lifting effect, correction of mimic wrinkles and therapy of microcirculation
disorders.
Recommended protocol:
1. Perform a full course of Meder treatments (5 treatments with 5 days interval between
each treatment) in order to relax the wrinkles and stimulate synthesis of fibroblasts.
2. Perform a course of bipolar Radiofrequency treatments. Between the treatments (on
the 12th – 16th day), perform one additional Meder treatment in order to avoid
narrowing of the synaptic slit as a result of radiofrequency impact.
3. Recommend Meder Patch Masks for home use.

Protocol 2
Indications:
Patients over 40 years old with active mimic and multiple fine wrinkles.
Recommended protocol:
1. Start a course of 4 bipolar Radiofrequency treatments with an interval of 4 weeks
between each treatment.
2. Start a course of Meder treatments. Perform Meder treatment after each
radiofrequency treatment on the 10th and 20th days. Please see illustration for details.
3. Recommend using Meder Patch Fix masks between the treatments in order to
maintain the concentration of Acetyl Hexapeptide 8 and avoid narrowing of the
synaptic slit as a result of radiofrequency impact.

SURGICAL FACELIFT
We recommend a full course of Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX treatments prior to a
planned surgical lift.
Apart from being an excellent wrinkle correction treatment, Meder Beauty Science VARFX helps to improve lymphatical and venous drainage, exfoliate dead epidermis cells,
oxygenate the skin, improve its elasticity and stimulate collagen production. All this
contributes to reducing the post-surgery recovery period as well as the risk of complications.
LASER TREATMENTS
It is recommended to perform ablative laser treatments prior to the course of noninvasive wrinkle correction programme Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX. The first Meder
treatment should not be performed until all treated areas are completely healed.
Non-ablative laser treatments can be done either before or after the Meder course.
If there are pronounced signs of aging or active hyperpigmentation, it is desirable to
carry out the procedure of laser therapy before starting the course of Meder Beauty Science
VAR-FX treatments.
ACID PEELS
It is not recommended to combine acid peels and Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX
protocol in one treatment. This is due to the fact that Acetyl Hexapeptide 8 is very sensitive to
pH balance and can be easily destroyed by acid.
If there are indications to both acid peel and non-invasive wrinkle correction, it is
recommended to complete a course of peels first and then follow with the course of Meder
Beauty Science VAR-FX treatments.
If the correction of pigmentation and signs of aging are the main indications for the
treatment, it is possible to perform a course of Meder Beauty Science VAR-FX treatment in
parallel with a course of surface (middle and deep is not recommended) peels. In this case,
the following protocol should be followed:
1. Perform surface chemical peel.
2. Perform Meder treatment with an interval of 3-5 days after the peel.
3. Perform another surface chemical peel with an interval of 2-3 days after Meder
treatment.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the end of the course.
It is recommended to use Meder Fix Stick daily. It should be used at different times of the
day to products containing acids (e.g. retinol containing moisturiser in the morning and
Meder stick in the evening and visa versa).

4. Fixing Concentrate (Concentré Fixateur) – 4 mins
Key ingredients:
 Acetyl Hexapeptide 8 - biologically active synthesized peptide consisting of a
sequence of six amino acids. Acetyl Hexapeptide 8 breaks the postsynaptic
transmission of neuromuscular impulse in the acetylcholine receptors. When applied
topically on the prepared skin its active penetration zone is from the skin surface to
the skin attachment point, i.e. it targets the fibres of mimic muscles attached to the
skin. Consequently the muscular contractility is decreased locally and skin tension
and wrinkling with facial expression are dramatically reduced while muscle tropism
remains completely intact. The result is cumulative - it builds up with time.
Application method: apply with the cotton stick on the zones of active mimic. Gently rub into
the skin.
In case of early wrinkles or when the treatment is used to prevent the wrinkle formation it is
possible to ask the client to frown and smile to make lines more apparent to be more precise
with application.
5. Fixing Patch Mask (Masque-Patch Fixateur) – 20 mins
Key ingredients:

The vegetable base of the mask made of bamboo fibres stretches out gently and
fixes the muscles in a natural relaxed state. The bamboo cloth soaked in a hydro gel,
containing Hylauronic acids, Retinyl Palmitate and Hexapeptide deeply saturates the
skin intensifying the impact of Hexapeptide, blocking mimic activity, smoothing small
wrinkles, stimulating the healing processes, nourishing and providing a truly
rejuvenating and regenerative effect. The new technology of occlusion with hydrogel
allows the active concentrate to be transported deep into the epidermis.
Application method: apply on the zones of active mimic.
6. Lifting Cream (Créme Lifting) – 3 mins

Following the treatment each customer receives the Meder Fix Stick for home use.
Meder Fix Stick (Fixing Concentrate Stick)
Key ingredients:


Acetyl Hexapeptide 8 - reduces the depth of wrinkles caused by the contraction of
the facial expression muscles, especially around the eyes and the forehead, partially
blocks mimic activity.
Palmitoyl Pentapeptide 4 - restores the dermal matrix through the development of
new collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans in the dermal layer of the skin.
Application method: apply daily on clean skin onto the zones of active mimic before day or
night moisturiser. Do not use together with any products containing acids, vitamin C or
retinoids (vitamin A).
