Efficiency: Sustainable structural materials & building design can
affect overall efficiency; such as sustainable insulation, window &
sound solutions, air & water filtration, adhesives, paints & sealants.
Facility Management is Key: Building information modeling & facility
life-cycle assessment and management can achieve high levels
of operations efficiency; reduced maintenance costs, increased
environmental, health & safety specifications.
Energy Management & the Road to Efficiency: Proper energy
usage auditing can drastically reduce procurement costs, as well
as, visualize usage and areas of spend creating better energy
management for the overall building.
Building Automation is Priority: Visualizing building data through
analytics dashboards and software implementations i.e. BAS,
CMMS, BMS & IWMS programs and advanced metering improve
overall building operational efficiency.
Commercial Applications of Renewable Technology: How the
utilization of commercial solar, fuel-cell and water conservation
technologies can offset fossil fuel based energy usage and
procurement costs/spend.
Retrofitting Facilities is a Good First Step: Accessing capital financing
options to replace inefficiency systems to increase overall building
efficiency through LED lighting, HVAC equipment replacement,
smart metering solutions and moving towards renewable technology,
building automation or cloud based solutions.
Corporate Real Estate is Part of the Equation: Implementing real
estate accounting information, including forecasting & budgeting

Cisco Systems
Driving Facility Performance with Big Data
Ali Ahmed, Senior Manager, Global Energy Management and Sustainability
Cisco is the worldwide leader in IT that helps companies seize the opportunities of tomorrow by proving
that amazing things can happen when you connect the previously unconnected. At Cisco customers come
first and an integral part of our DNA is creating long-lasting customer partnerships and working to identify
needs and provide solutions that support success. The concept of solutions being driven to address specific
customer challenges has been with Cisco since its inception. Husband and wife Len Bosack and Sandy
Lerner, both working for Stanford University, wanted to email each other from their respective offices located
in different buildings but were unable to due to technological shortcomings. A technology had to be invented
to deal with disparate local area protocols; and as a result of solving their challenge - the multi-protocol
router was born. Since then Cisco has shaped the future of the Internet by creating unprecedented value and
opportunity for our customers, employees, investors and ecosystem partners and has become the worldwide
leader in networking - transforming how people connect, communicate and collaborate.

perspective of how to manage an effective sustainably program with focus on reducing carbon footprint while
increasing financial performance. Attendees will learn principles and practices around how to keep buildings
sustainable with respect to the energy they consume along with actual case studies validating the sustainable
commissioning concept. A focus is put on how building commissioning processes play a key role in keeping
LEED certified buildings and manufacturing operations reliable and efficient over time. Participants will also
