Our team of experienced academics
and industry professionals are
committed to delivering a practical
learning environment and the latest
in work practices and industry
developments. We provide a distinctive
educational experience based on
hands-on learning. Our philosophy is
simple: The best way for you to learn
about human interaction is to interact.
Whether you want to build more
effective communication and team
management skills, or get the
qualifications you need to practise
as a counsellor, psychologist, case
worker, coach or social worker our aim
is to produce graduates who can take
the skills they learn at ACAP and apply
them immediately in the workforce.
You can choose to study on-campus
at one of our centrally located city
campuses, by online delivery or
both. Whichever you choose, our
support team will provide you with
the necessary academic and personal
support throughout your studies to
achieve your goals.
I look forward to welcoming you to ACAP.

What units am I required to study to
complete the course?
What is the online student portal?
Whether you are studying on-campus
or by online delivery, the online student
portal is the online learning system and
student administration portal that allows
you to:
To successfully complete your course,
you are required to pass all units within
your course. You can find the Sequence
and Structure on the ACAP website under
course guides. You can find these at:
http://www.acap.edu.au/currentstudents/course-guides/
• Access to your online class space,
course materials, and discussion boards
• Read important news relevant to your
location and mode of study
What is the difference between the
modes of study?
• Enrol into units each trimester
On-Campus
• Access your ACAP email
• Attend weekly 3 hour classes (4 hours
for psychology students) or equivalent
hours for weekend classes
• Update your personal details
• Access your academic results
• Highly dynamic and interactive
Where are my login details?
• Opportunity to practise your skills
Your login details to access the online
student portal are sent to you via email.
If you find that you haven’t received an
email from ACAP, check your junk mail.
Otherwise contact ACAP Technical
Support to have your login resent.
• Need a reliable internet connection
and computer literacy to write and
submit assignments
Online Delivery
• Ability to study at a time and place
that suits you
Technical Support
T (02) 9964 6322
E helpdesk@my.navitas-professional.edu.au
• Engage with teaching staff and fellow
students in an online classroom
How do I use my.navitas-professional?
There are student ‘How to Guides’
available to take you through all the key
functions of the online student portal.
You can find these at the following link:
http://www.acap.edu.au/currentstudents/it-acap/
Manage my enrolment
What units am I enrolled in?
Once you have logged into the online
student portal you will be able to access ‘My
Enrolment’. As this is your first trimester you
have already been enrolled into your units.
What is a full-time or part-time study load?
A full-time load is 3 units whether you are
studying by Online Delivery or On-Campus.
(or 2 units if studying the Graduate
Diploma of Counselling).
A part-time load is 1–2 units whether
you are studying by Online Delivery or
On-Campus.
Each unit requires 9–12 hours of study
per unit per week (including time in class).
It is not recommended for students
to undertake a full-time load if
working full-time.
Can I gain credit for studies I
have completed?
You may be eligible to have your past
studies and/or work experience credited
towards your course.
This means that you could be exempt from
some of the units listed in your course
sequence guide and be able to complete
your course in a shorter period of time.
Please note: you must be an enrolled
student with ACAP before you can apply
for Credit. For further information, view
the full Credit Arrangements Policy at:
http://www.acap.edu.au/current-students/
managing-my-course/a-z-policies/
If I’m studying on campus where do I
find my timetable?
Class timetables are updated throughout
the year as classes are finalised. Students
are advised to use the timetable and the
yearly planner as a tool to plan their
enrolment each trimester, and for the
coming year. You can find class
timetables here:
http://www.acap.edu.au/current-students/
managing-my-course/class-timetables/
• Practise your skills at the compulsory
on-campus workshops (required for
certain units). Further information
about workshop dates can be found
at the following link:
http://acap.edu.au/current-students/
managing-my-course/class-timetables
• Need a reliable internet connection
and computer literacy to write and
submit assignments. You will also
need speakers and a microphone to
participate in the online tutorials).
Ideally students should log in using a
Desktop or Notebook. (Tablets and
phones may be limited in functionality
for on-line learning systems)
Blended delivery
• Throughout the trimester, students in
blended delivery units are required to
undertake activities, assessment, and
self-study through the online class
space as well as attend on campus as
well as real time (synchronous) online
sessions which are programmed
regularly throughout the trimester.
• Dates for on-campus and synchronous
online commitments are available
in advance so students can plan
their commitments around
attendance requirements.
• Each course may have different
on-campus requirements and specific
information is available on the website.
If you are enrolled in a course offered by
multiple delivery modes you can change
your mode of study each trimester to suit
your circumstances or to suit the nature
of the unit. However, you cannot change
the study mode of the unit mid-way
through the trimester.
What is the Online Class Space?
The online class space is for all students
studying higher education qualifications
within the online student portal.
The online class spaces are facilitated by
experienced teaching staff who provide
students with feedback about their
knowledge, skills and academic writing.
All students use the online class space to:
1. Access your course materials,
manuals and readings, and
assessment requirements (Read your
Module Manual for more information)
2. Receive messages from the teacher
3. Connect with your class mates
4. Submit your assessment and view
your assignment results
Online classes become available on the
Thursday prior to the beginning of each
trimester. When you log in Click on ‘My
Classes’ and you will see a class for
each unit that you are enrolled in for
the current trimester.
Manuals
(School of Counselling units only)
Free access via the online class space.
The course manual contains the course
content (curriculum) and is designed for
self-directed study. It is divided into 12
weekly sections, corresponding to the
12 week trimester.
Readings
Free access via the online class space.
Each unit generally has a reading pack,
with one or more readings relating to
each topic of study (School of
Counselling only).
Textbooks

bookstore partners or you may be able to
find a second hand copy at Amazon.com
If desired, and where applicable, you can
