Samsung Upgrading SMT-Ixxxx IP Phones Rev 1 1 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade • This guide applies to the following IP Devices SMT-i3100 & i3105 SMT-i5xxx SMT – i5264 (IP AOM) • Supported Upgrade Types Manual via IP phone Upgrades via IT Tool o Manual o Timed o Phone connect 2 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade • Requirements TFTP Server o E.g. 3cDaemon, Pumpkin, Solar Winds In this guide I will be using 3cDaemon 3 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade • If you need to upgrade remote IP phones and you do not have a VPN in place you will either need to have a TFTP server on the local network to the remote IP phone or setup port forwarding if using a remote TFTP server. • In the case of using a remote TFTP server you will use the Public IP address as the TFTP Server IP address. o You will also need to forward port 69 to the TFTP Server’s private IP address. See next page of network diagram 4 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade 5 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade • IP Phone Software File Structure. It is important to select the correct folder to use on your TFTP server. It does not matter how this folder is labelled but this is the folder you would select on your TFTP Server SMT-ixxxx Vx.xx Folder ITP-Series File xxxxx.ini or .xml 6 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade 1. 2. Install and run the TFTP Server on a PC. Select the correct route/directory folder for the software to be uploaded. 1. 2. 7 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade • Upgrading using the IT Tool Select mmc841/menu 5.2.10 Enter the software version for the Device you want to upgrade to. Enter the TFTP server IP address Select the Upgrade Type 8 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade • Upgrade Type MMC Command > go to MMC840/menu 6.3.15 and select S/W upgrade for the model/extensions you want to upgrade. Then Save : The selected phones will try and retrieve the files from the TFTP server and upgrade. You can select multiple phones of the same type to upgrade but you will be limited to the amount of simultaneous connections your TFTP server can support, it is recommended to do a few at a time. Phone Connect > Phone will try and upgrade when connected. Auto Time > enter a start time for the phone to try and upgrade. 9 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade • Manual Upgrade from Phone Does not require any configuration on the IT Tool. The TFTP Server IP address will be entered on the phone. Enter Admin Menu On all models except the SMT-i5243 & SMT-i5264 reboot the phone while holding down the “ * ” key until the phone has booted up. SMT-i5243, Select Menu > Phone > Phone Information (you will see the current version) enter password “ *153# ” 10 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade Select S/W Upgrade Enter your TFTP Server IP address Select Upgrade The Phone will now try and retrieve the software from your TFTP server. 11 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade • SMT-i5264 Manual Upgrade Via HTTP Open a webpage and enter the IP address of the AOM and port 8080 e.g. http://192.168.3.80:8080 Login o ID: admin o Password: samsung 12 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade Enter your TFTP Server IP and select Upgrade Start. 13 SMT-ixxxx Upgrade • Notes o Possible reasons for the phone failing to retrieve the software from the TFTP server are Firewalls, Antivirus , selecting the incorrect folder on the TFTP server or TFTP server config. (if your TFTP server has options for read and wright ensure all files are allowed) o A phone will only try and upgrade if the software is different to the current level of software on the phone. 14
