judgment, integrity, and a sense of responsibility.
ACC offers two degree plans. The AAS degree in Law
Enforcement and Police Administration prepares individuals
for career services in law enforcement and related
occupations. The AA degree is available to students
planning to major in Criminal Justice and transfer to a fouryear university.

The Certification in Basic Law Enforcement is a series
• Day Academy - One semester. Offered in Fall or Spring
- Monday - Friday from 7:30 am - 5:30 pm and an
occasional Saturday
of courses designed to prepare students for a career in
Texas law enforcement. ACC offers a diverse training staff
including police officers, administrators, judges, lawyers
and college professors. They work to prepare students
for the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers
Standards and Education Exam (TCLEOSE) – the state
licensing exam. Realism and hands-on training are key
elements of the ACC training program.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, www.bls.
gov, career opportunities in most local police departments
will be excellent for qualified individuals, while competition
is expected for jobs in State and Federal agencies.
According to www.onetonline.org the average salary for
Law Enforcement Officers is $49,700. Salary amount often
varies depending on the place of employment, job title and
ends in May or begins in January and ends in December.

• Night Academy - Two semesters. Begins in August and High School Diploma or GED. Provide proof of graduation and
transcript.
Score at least 35 on reading and vocabulary assessment test
or fall within an exception.
Be fingerprinted and supply information for a criminal history
and driver’s license check.
Must have no family violence convictions.
Students below 21 years of age must meet special exceptions.
