Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) and
Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) are 4-year
degree programs, which aim to produce competent
basic education teachers imbued with
Christian
Ideals and principles and committed to effect social
change. These education programs provide holistic
formation through various courses in general,
specialization, theory and concept, methods and
strategies, field study and practice teaching. The
academic preparation, trainings and exposures equip

CC VE Personhood Development (3 units)
This course deals with the development of the human being’s
potential toward the integrated self. Positive self-concept and
harmonious relationships that flow from self to self, to others, to
community and to God are developed through experiential
sessions. Universal
humanness and ethical principles guide
personhood development
vis-à-vis the conditions for living fully
in the society.
CC SS 1 Natural Resources of the Philippines (3 units)
A study of the basic geographic features and regions of the
Philippines to enable the students to understand the different
physical and
cultural processes as well as the natural resources
of the Philippines that are instrumental in shaping the country.
CC SS 2 Building Bridges Across the Social Science Disciplines
(3 units)
A study which covers varied presentations of interactive activities
and integrative strategies utilizing thematic approach in instruction
of two or more Social Science disciplines.
CC Fil 1 Mga Anyo ng Kontemporaryong Panitikang Pilipino
(3 units)
Pagbasa, pagsusuri at interpretasyon ng iba’t ibang anyo ng
kontemporaryong panitikan ng may pagbibigay diin sa pag unawa

This is an introductory course on the general concepts and
principles pertaining to the complex pattern of interaction
between the physical environment and the biological communities on earth. Emphasis is also given on the current environment
issues and concerns.
CC SC 2 Inorganic Chemistry
(3 units)
This course covers the basic principles that include atomic
structure, chemical equations and stoichiometry, periodic table,
chemical bonding and molecular structure, gases, liquids, solids
and solutions.
This course develops the basic laboratory skills. It
includes
experiments and exercises illustrating the concepts covered in
Inorganic Chemistry. A more detailed discussion of topics not
extensively covered in the lecture is provided through additional
experiments and exercises.

Physics for Health Sciences
(3 units)
This course deals primarily with the study of Physics interrelated
with Chemistry, Astronomy & Geology. As problem solving is a
must in this course, mathematics becomes an important tool.
Topics include matter, energy, heat, electricity, magnetism,
waves, light, sound, optics and other chemical changes. This also
deals with the study of the principles of physics and their applications in the health sciences. A 1-unit Laboratory is included in this
course.
CC SC 4 Astronomy
(3 units)
A course for non-science majors covering the various motions
observed in the heaven and the fundamental physical laws that
govern them. The course also includes a discussion of the theories
behind the formation of the solar system and other astronomical
bodies.

Advanced Algebra and Trigo
(3 units)
This course provides a rigorous study of the fundamental concepts
of functions leading to advanced concepts of special functions. It
assumes students’ thorough understanding of basic algebraic
concepts including graphs and equations. This course is
prerequisite to the study of trigonometry. The use of graphing
calculators and computer algebra systems is highly encouraged.

This course deals with the contemporary English language
teaching strategies and methods in the context of English

Foundations of MAPE (3 units)
The course covers the historical, philosophical and sociological
development of MAPE necessary to understand the principles and
theories of physical education, health and music education. The
course relates the path to contemporary issues, concerns and
development of MAPE.
CC HELE Home Economics and Livelihood Education (3 units)
The course deals primarily with family relationship focusing on
worthy home membership. It aims to strengthen the family as the
basic unit of society. It shall include the basic knowledge of scientific home management such as procurement, preparation, and
serving of simple indigenous attractive nutritious meals, budgeting, home repairs and upkeep: home decor (consisting mainly of
recycled crafts) and landscaping with emphasis on backyard vegetables and herbal gardening.

education. It discusses the what, the who, the why and the how

presents different curriculum models.

child from the scribbling stage at the age of four to six. It also
deals with the teaching of creative activities for young children,

Financial Accounting (6 units)
This course provides an introduction to financial accounting, within
the context of business and business decisions. It will explore the
development of accounting information and the use of various
types of accounting information found in financial statements and
annual reports. It emphasized what accounting information is, why
it is important and how it is used by economic decision makers.
Specifically, it will cover introduction to business and decision making, basic structure and development of useful accounting information, understanding the basic financial statements cash (balance
sheet, income statement, statement of owner’s equity and statement of cash flows) forms of outside assurance on financial statements; and analysis of accounting information.
FIN 101 Principles of Money, Credit and Banking

The course will cover an introduction to financial management. It
will focus on what business firms should do to achieve their financial
goals, which is to optimize the owner’s wealth. Specifically, the
course will include discussion of the finance function, the operating
environment of finance, key concepts such as time value of money,
risk and return, tools of financial analysis and planning, utilization of

scoring and interpreting psychological tests including projective
techniques. The course is divided into three sctions. The first section involves a review of the basic concepts and psychometric principles apply to all types of psychological tests. The second section
focuses on issues related to administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological tests that typically are used in standard assessment battery. In the last segment of the course, students gain hand
-on experience in working with a standard test battery. In a rudimentary simulation of a testing situation, students will score and

An introductory course in Botany which is concerned primarily
with the study of the nature, structure and physiology of flowering plants, as well as their importance to man. It also includes

This course deals primarily with the study of Physics interrelated
with Chemistry, Astronomy & Geology. As problem solving is a

This is a course on the study of organic compounds which includes
the chemical structure of the different organic compounds, methods of preparation, properties and chemical behavior. Emphasis is
placed on modern concept of chemical bonding, orbital theory and
resonance reaction mechanism. Industrial and biological applications and use of organic compounds are also part of the course.
Sci 101 Environmental Science (3 units)
This is an interdisciplinary course that emphasizes the impact of
humans on the environment. The course begins with a study of the
structure and function of ecosystems. Then various environmental
problems are examined including population growth, food supply,
energy issues, water issues, air pollution, extinction, solid waste
disposal, and hazardous materials. Students examine how culture
and technology affect environmental policies. Students also do several group activities that require value judgments and decisionmaking about environmental issues

Fundamentals of Accounting (6 units)
This course provides an introduction to accounting, within the context of business and business decisions. Students explore the role
of accounting information in the decision-making process and learn
how to use various types of accounting information found in financial statements and annual reports. This course starts with a discussion of accounting thought and the theoretical background of
accounting and the accounting profession. The next topic is the
accounting cycle - recording, handling, and summarizing accounting
data, including the preparation and presentation of financial statements for merchandising and service companies. Following this is
an introduction to accounting information systems - manual and
computerized. Emphasis is placed on understanding the reasons
underlying basic accounting concepts and providing students with
an adequate background on the recording, classification, and summarization functions of accounting to enable them to appreciate
the varied uses of accounting data. Also discussed are special journals, the voucher system, and simple bank reconciliation.

capital, and profit-and-loss-sharing ratios; the conversion of an
unincorporated enterprise into a corporation; accounting for
incorporated enterprises, including corporate organizations;
pain-in capital, accumulated earnings (loss);dividends and treasury shares. It also covers the preparation of financial statements for internal and external purposes; understanding balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows and

study of the theoretical accounting framework – objectives of

accepted accounting principles (national concepts and principles as well as international accounting standards), the conditions under which they may be appropriately applied, their impact or effect on the financial statements; and the criticisms
commonly leveled against them .

with the application of auditing standards, techniques, and procedures, internal control evaluation; preparation of audit working papers, introduction of computer application in auditing;

reliable foundation on the core areas of tax that are likely to be
encountered during the initial phase of a CPA’s tax experience in
professional practice. It covers a review of the national tax
system, and the income taxation of employees and unincorporated businesses and incorporated business. It provides the
students with review of the concept of the capital gains tax, final
tax on certain passive income; and the year-end tax, improperly
accumulated profits tax of corporations. Tax forms are provided
for specific topics discussed; it covers value – added tax schemes;
local direct taxes including real estate and other property taxes;
excise taxes; transfer taxes on gratuitous transfers of property
which are estate tax and donor’s tax; business taxes; and the
remedies of the estate and the taxpayer. Emphasis is given on
ethical considerations – tax avoidance and the minimization of tax

purpose, formation and classes of partnership as well as the obligations of the partners.

combination and dissolution of a private corporation. Legal principles concerning the corporate entity are likewise included such

warranties; sale with a right to repurchase or conventional
redemption and legal redemption; sale on credit; and installment

also covers the law on agency; its nature, form, and kinds; obligations of the agent and of the principal; and modes of extinguishments. Also discussed are employment contracts and pertinent provisions of the Labor Code and law on credit transactions such as

concepts, benefits of risk management, risk management processes, enterprise-wide risk management, managing operating risk

The national Service Training Program 2 (NSTP 2) is a sequel to

The Basics of Faith is a preparatory subject that intends to review

This course will introduce the topics on Information Technology
and discuss how organizations use information systems to support
for a variety of tasks ranging from basic day-to-day activities to
creating competitive advantage in the work place. Following an
overview of basic hardware, software, electronic commerce, the
impact of IS upon organizations and society, and ethical use of information system. This broad topic coverage within information
systems will provide you with the necessary foundation to understand the ever-increasing relationship between information system, organizations and society in general.
Also, a hand-on experience on keyboarding will be given to the
students in order to develop and improve their skills in interaction
the different application software needed in the program.
IT 102 Intro to Programming Language w/ Prog. Logic Form
( 3 units)
This course deals with the fundamentals and basic concepts of
computer programming, stressing the analysis, design, coding, debugging and implementation of computer-based solutions using a
specified language. It is expected that through this course, students’ interest on basic computer programming will be tapped
through hands on experience, with the principle of “The best way
to learn computer programming is to do computer programming”.
Emphasis will be placed on structured programming. Only one
computer programming language will be covered (Microsoft Visual
Basic) aiming in instilling confidence in basic principles of this language.

ITA 104 System Analysis and Design

This course provides students with an understanding of how information should be generated, processed, assessed, and controlled.
Using a conceptual approach, it examines the process of analyzing
and designing financial accounting systems with emphasis on the
accountant’s role in the development of information systems. It
introduces the features of typical computer-based accounting systems as distinguished from manual systems, and how they interface with one another. The course also introduces control concepts and techniques to manage risks in financial accounting systems.
Applying system analysis and database design concepts, the students will define and analyze user needs, develop system specifications and database design, and define the control requirements.
The course also provides hands-on experience in operating a computerized accounting system. Finally, the course explores the strategic implications and applications of information technology and
the emerging business models in the new economy.

This course aims to equip students with the basic concepts and
methods used in the analysis, design, and deployment of information systems in organizations. It involves a theoretical study of
system concepts, components and business organizations.
The course discusses the major activities and key issues at each
stage in the system life cycle, including requirements analysis, human factors, prototyping, functional design, database design, project management and implementation. Various methodologies
and technical tools ranging from flowcharts and decision tables to
automated design techniques and CASE tools are discussed.

This course is designed to make the students knowledgeable about
the fundamentals underlying the design, implementation, control,
evaluation, and strategic use of modern, computer-based information systems for business data processing, office automation, information reporting, and decision-making. Although some of the effort will be devoted to hands-on work with business software, the
major emphasis will be on the managerial and strategic aspects of

and hypothesis testing. The course gives emphasis on application
through problem solving. The use of graphing calculators and

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Caregiving NC II qualification is designed to enhance
the knowledge, skills and attitudes of Caregivers in accordance
with industry standards. It covers basic, common and core competencies in NC II. It consists of competencies that a person must
achieve to provide care and support to infants/toddlers, provide
care and support to children, foster social, intellectual, creative
and emotional development of children, foster the physical development of children, provide care and support to elderly, provide
care and support to people with special needs, maintain healthy
and safe environment, respond to emergency, clean living room,
dining room, bedrooms, toilet and bathroom, wash and iron
clothes, linen, fabric, prepare hot and cold meals.
The Bread and Pastry Production NC II qualification is
designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitude in bread
and pastry production to prepare and present desserts; prepare
and display petits four in accordance with industry standards. It
covers the basic, common and core competencies.
The Cookery NC II qualification consists of competencies
that a person must achieve to clean kitchen areas, prepare hot,
cold meals and desserts for guests in various food and beverage
service facilities.

designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes in FOOD
AND BEVERAGE SERVICES NC II in accordance with industry standards. It covers the basic, common and core competencies required in the delivery of food and beverage service in various foodservice facilities. It covers the core competencies on preparing the
dining room for service, welcoming guests and taking food and
beverage orders, promoting food and beverage products, providing food and beverage service to guests, providing room service,
and receiving and handling guest concerns.
The Bartending NC II qualification is designed to enhance
the knowledge, skills and attitude of a bartender/ barkeeper in
cleaning bar areas, operating bar, preparing and mixing cocktails,

The Front Office Services NC II qualification is designed to
enhance the knowledge, skills and attitude of Front Office
personnel in accordance with industry standards. It covers the basic, common and core competencies on receiving and processing
reservations, operating a computerized reservation system, providing reception and accommodation services, conducting night
audit, providing club reception services and providing porter
services.

in housekeeping services, preparing guest’s rooms, providing
valet/butler service, laundering linen and guest’s clothes, cleaning
premises and equipment in accordance with industry standards.
The Tourism Promotion Services NC II qualification is
designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, behavior and motivations in accordance with industry standards. It covers the basic,
common and core competencies required for the NCII level in
Tourism Promotion Services. The competencies for sales/office
operations include operating an automated information system,
sourcing and providing destination information and advice, accessing and interpreting product information, and promoting tourism
products and services. It also includes competencies on developing and updating industry knowledge, observing workplace
hygiene procedures, performing computer operations and workplace and safety practices, and providing effective customer
service.
The Travel Services NC II qualification is designed to
enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes of an individual in the
field of tour servicing in accordance with industry standards. It
covers specialized competencies such as; facilitate Issuance of
travel documents; and arrange and make reservations for travel
related services.
