Would you like to join the Speech & Debate Team
in your school with a clear competitive edge? Our
two-week session is taught by our Mercyhurst Prep
Speech & Debate coaches and several award-winning Laker graduates who competed nationally
in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts at
Harvard University. Each session promises to
be exhilarating and fun. You will enhance your
self-confidence and social awareness while
honing your organizational, critical thinking, research, sourcing, and
public speaking skills. Camps
The sessions are designed around clustered activities including:
Debate Events • Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and Congress
Timed Creation Events • Extemporaneous Speaking and Impromptu Speaking
Interpretation Events • Duo, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation,
Original Oratory, Oral Interpretation (Prose/Poetry, and Declamation)

Fire up your creativity with a wide-range of
projects. If you liked playing with Play-Doh,
you’ll love this camp. Ceramics camp is
designed to introduce the student to hand
building techniques in clay such as pinch, coil,
slab, and free-forming techniques. Simple
glazing techniques will be covered. Learn
from award winning artist and MPS teacher,
Dave Schroeck.

Become a more confident and elite athlete with guidance from our

Football Camp
Coach Jeff Root & staff
This camp is a four-day non-contact camp with
instruction in all phases of football. Offensive and
defensive instruction will include technique play
for interior linemen, linebackers, offensive backs
including QBs, and defensive backs. A specialty unit
with emphasis on the kicking game will be highlighted. The goal of the camp is to learn technique,
make new friends and have fun! Coach Root’s
experience is drawn from 25 years of coaching at the
highest level of high school football in Pennsylvania.

Coach Bakka has a total of 18 years coaching
experience that includes 5 years as head
coach at MPS. His teams have twice been
named PIAA State runner-up and they have
brought home 3 D-10 Championships and
4 Region Championships.

Coach Baer recently finished his fifth season as head coach of the
MPS varsity basketball program. Expand your skill set and reach your full
potential under Coach Baer’s guidance. Campers will learn ball handling,
shooting skills and man-to -man defensive strategies. Daily contest and
drills will be a part of the competitive yet fun-filled atmosphere.

MPS is host to the area’s only international rowing team, which began in
the 80s, so you’ll be learning skills from experienced, winning coaches. The
atmosphere is relaxed enough to be fun while also providing an informative
introduction to the sport of rowing on Presque Isle Bay in our top-of-the-line
racing shells.
Head Coach David Geiger has been on the staff of the rowing team since 1997.
During his time as head coach the team has won numerous awards on the
national and international level. Many of his rowers have been awarded
scoholarships at some of the top colleges in the country. He as well as all of

individualized camp while concentrating on skill development and
game application from a real pro.
Coach Perfetto has completed his
ninth year of coaching the MPS girls
team. He has over 200 career wins
and six Region Championships
under his belt. He is a two-time State Class AAA runner up, he won a
D-10 championship and he was named the 2011 PIAA State AAA Coach
of the Year.
