ETAP Completed Projects The table below provides an overview of completed ETAP projects. Last update April 2013. Project ETAP Action Plan reference Update (refer to chapter 12 of the ETAP) A.5 Chestnut Avenue cycle way (Sandmartin Close to Stoneham Lane). The scheme was implemented in Autumn 2011 and provides an off road shared use cycleway that connects Eastleigh town to the Hypermarket and the surrounding employment sites in Chandler’s Ford. B.2 Real time rail information screen at Eastleigh bus station This was implemented in Spring 2011 and improves the information and integration between the bus and rail stations. B.7 and B.8 Secure cycle This scheme was implemented in April compound at Eastleigh 2012. This provides cyclists with a secure Station compound to park their bicycles at the Station. For more information on access to the compound please speak to the Eastleigh Station ticket office. C.7 Eastleigh Town Centre Variable Message Signage (VMS) and Static Signage upgrades The scheme was implemented in March 2012. VMS signage has been installed on all the key approaches to Eastleigh town centre as well as rationalising and upgrading existing static signage. This provides motorists with real time information on which car parks have spare capacity. A.27 Eastleigh Town Disabled Access Audit An audit of accessibility issues was undertaken in Spring 2011 which was carried out with EBC & HCC officers along with volunteers from the Eastleigh Disabled Access Group. A number of issues were identified. Individual proposals where appropriate have been added to the ETAP Action Project ETAP Action Plan reference Update (refer to chapter 12 of the ETAP) Plan. C.1/ C.12 Junction Safety Improvements B.10 New Bus shelter Derby This scheme was implemented in Spring Road near junction 2011. The existing bus stop was with Elm Road upgraded with a bus shelter provided. D.11 Electric Vehicle The charging point was installed in Spring Charging Point at the 2011. This enables visitors to the town to Mitchell Road Car Park charge their electric vehicles. D.9 Archers Road Footbridge Maintenance A.10 Cycle route from Leigh This scheme has been implemented Road to Eastleigh town providing an alternative cycle route to centre via back ways cycling on-road along Leigh Road. It utilises a new pedestrian/ cycle link adjacent to the Good Companions PH and the existing backways. A.17 Mitchell Road cycle way (link to Southampton Airport and Parkway) The link has been complete. A.9 Leigh Rd South Side Cycleway from M3 junction 13 southbound on-slip to Passfield Avenue Junction The scheme has been implemented improving local cycle links by widening the existing footway and converting to shared use. This scheme was implemented in Autumn 2011. Key junctions within the network of “Grid Streets” has had the signage and lining enhanced to make the junction priorities clearer. Works include repairs to the risers, repainting, and improved surfacing with anti slip material. Project ETAP Action Plan reference Update (refer to chapter 12 of the ETAP) A.38/ A.36 Wells Place disabled access improvements The scheme has been implemented providing new dropped kerbs and tactile paving as well as better access for pedestrians when using the disabled parking bays. These improvements were identified by the Disabled Access Group. ETAP Live Projects The following is an overview of in progress ETAP projects where studies and investigations are currently being undertaken. Investigating pedestrian and cycle accessibility improvements, road safety improvements and junction capacity improvements. Implementation programmed 2014/15. A.12 Leigh Road / Passfield Avenue junction accessibility and capacity improvements Detailed design underway. Scheme will consider improved pedestrian and cycle crossing facilities at the junction and also improve the efficiency at the junction to reduce vehicular delays. Implementation programmed for 2014/15. A.28 Pedestrian route enhancement (Twyford Road to Eastleigh Station via Detailed design underway. Scheme will consider options to improve the well used pedestrian route, considering surfacing, lighting and safety improvements. A.30 Improvements to the pedestrian and cycle wayfinding signage within the town centre, “Legible” Eastleigh Detailed design underway. The scheme will include implementation of a signing strategy to comprehensively sign key routes and destinations within the town centre. Implementation programmed Autumn/ winter 2013. A.31/ B.7 / B.8 Eastleigh Station Forecourt Improvement Works Feasibility design work underway. Accessibility and Environmental improvements being considered include de-cluttering, new surface treatments, car parking reconfiguration, improved lighting & planting and improved linkages to the town centre, especially the crossing of Southampton Road. Implementation programmed for 2014/15. A.3 Bishopstoke Road cycle way (Riverside to Eastleigh Station) Detailed design complete. Scheme aimed at improving the cycling facilities along Bishopstoke Road between the Riverside junction and Eastleigh Station. Implementation programmed for 2013/14. A.23/ D.10 Twyford Road Transport and Environmental Improvements Detailed design complete. Public consultation completed with scheme priorities identified. Implementation programmed for 2013/14. A.8/ A.11 Cycle route on north side of Leigh Road from Woodside Avenue to Brookwood Avenue Detailed design complete. Scheme aims to widen the existing footway to make it a shared use cycleway. Implementation programmed for 2013/14. D.6 Regal Walk Environmental Enhancements Feasibility study complete. The scheme is considering enhancements to the well used pedestrian route to include new surface treatments, lighting and public art. A.4 Campbell Road / Southampton Road Junction Accessibility Improvements Feasibility study complete. The scheme aims to provide new pedestrian crossing facilities at the Campbell Road/ Southampton Road junction. Implementation programmed for 2013/14. A.7 Derby Road MIP Pedestrian Improvements between Hardy Rd and Goldsmith Rd The installation of pedestrian refuge and build-outs along a section of Derby Road. Implementation programmed through the Minor Improvements Programme for 2013/14. B.2 Travel information kiosk at the Swan Centre Provision of an RTI & dual screen kiosk to provide a journey planning touch screen interface for multi modal journey planning and a broadcast display screen to show live Train departure information from Eastleigh Train Station and bus departure information from Eastleigh. Ongoing discussions with Swan Centre to identify possible location. B.11 Common Wheels Car Club Vehicle located in Town Centre The car club vehicle has been located at The Point and has available since April 2012. However possible expansion of the scheme may be required in the future.
