Major Work Proposal Student Name: Tina Winkhouse Class: 10 Art Relevant References/Influences (texts, artists, artworks, etc.) Theodore Gericault. The Raft of the Medusa. Tokyo Hotel [band]. Grünewald, Matthias. Dadaist Photomontage Focus of Work (Thematic & Formal concerns, you might like to start with a brainstorm) Theme: The proposed work reflects upon contemporary society’s obsession with celebrity. It seeks to compare this with people’s approach to religion. Formal Concerns: By presenting this in an overly dramatised, absurd aesthetic the rationality of this obsession is brought into question. The image will also directly reference past artworks to compound the meaning (see below). As these concerns reflect much of the history of photomontage practice; namely absurd imagery motivated for social critique, this medium should be well suited to the task. Intended number, scale and media of works (what you intend to make eg. oil on board etc.) 1 work. 2 Dimensional. A3. Digital print.
