BFS Cargo E-Newsletter Vol. 10/2015 Handling with CARE…Customer ∙ Attentive ∙ Responsive ∙ Efficient Dear Friends, “BFS Cargo Charity Dinner will be held on February 12th 2016 at the Marriott Hotel” Welcome to the October edition of the BFS Cargo E-Newsletter. I would like to start this month by announcing the date and venue for the BFS Cargo Charity Dinner. It will be held on February 12th 2016 at the Marriott Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 57. We are moving the event next year David Ambridge to see if access to a new venue is easier for the guests. General Manager - Cargo I visited the Marriott recently and the Ballroom and reception foyer are both ideal for our event. Our expectation is that the New Day Care Centre will be completed by then and we can all celebrate a wonderful achievement of giving under privileged children a chance in life. Invitations will be coming out fairly soon to all of you and I really hope we can fill the Ballroom with over 250 people and raise more money to support FSCC. In September we saw a significant increase in Import volumes over last year, 1,700 tonnes, Exports however were only marginally up and continues to disappoint. Maybe the 4th quarter will be better but all signs indicate that this will not be the case. E-AWB shipments are increasing I’m happy to report, but just not quickly enough. We still have fewer than 10% of shipments moving this way and that really is disappointing. BKK is a major Cargo airport and we need to do much more to support IATA in their goals of simplifying the business. Please enjoy this month’s edition Regards, David Ambridge General Manager – Bangkok Flight Services Cargo (WFS affiliate) BFS Cargo E-Newsletter Vol. 10/2015 www.BangkokFlightServices.com BFS Cargo E-Newsletter Cleanliness is next to godliness Many of you have probably heard of this term “Cleanliness is next to godliness”. Keeping a Cargo Terminal clean and functioning efficiently is a full time 24/7 responsibility and it starts with everyone that visits our Cargo Terminal. When I was young, my parents taught me the value of not littering, keeping your room clean/tidy and take only what you can eat/eat everything off your plate, I still carry/practice these values and have passed them on to my children. Keeping a clean litter free work environment is a matter of attitude, and attitude change is possible only with awareness. Similar to safety & security, a clean & safe work environment is everyone’s responsibility. John Yep Director – Cargo Service Delivery A minimal level of cleanliness is necessary for everyone’s health & well-being. As a business owners certainly you do not want your visitors and/or staff developing a negative impression of your company due to a littered & dirty work environment. It is not going to be perfectly clean all the time, but the effort must be made to keep it consistently neat. Another reason to focus on housekeeping is for the value of diligence that it imparts to your staff, as they are trained to help with clean up and are encouraged to keep the litter at a minimum. Our focus on housekeeping and work management are key values imparted to our staff and that hopefully will carry forth in their personal lives Reading recent articles on Thailand’s initiative to encourage shoppers to use as few plastic bags as possible, the movement for a cleaner environment is gaining awareness. Do we really want each pastry to be put into their own separate plastic bag before being put into another larger plastic bag? It has been theorized that plastic bags do not readily break down in the environment, with estimates for the time it takes them to decompose ranging from 20 to 1,000 years. BFS Cargo E-Newsletter Vol. 10/2015 www.BangkokFlightServices.com BFS Cargo E-Newsletter By keeping ourselves and our surroundings clean, we are also teaching good habits to those who do not know about them. When we keep the surroundings clean, we are reducing risk & preventing germs, insects and diseases to spread and avoid accidents/injuries to visitors. We are directly or indirectly helping others. Cleanliness is a good habit. It should be mandatory for all of us John Yep Director Cargo Service Delivery Bangkok Flight Services- Cargo BFS Cargo E-Newsletter Vol. 10/2015 www.BangkokFlightServices.com BFS Cargo E-Newsletter Latest News BFS Participated the 9th Anniversary of Suvarnabhumi Airport On Monday 28 September 2015, Bangkok Flight Services participated the 9th Anniversary of Suvarnabhumi Airport and the Buddhist Blessing Ceremony organized by Airports of Thailand at Airport Operations Building (AOB).
